Russian SKS - who recently bought from a dealer?

Although I haven't bought a new SKS in some time, all the Soviet ones I've seen at vendors are forced matched at best. From what I have seen, all the "pure" numbers matching rifles came in over almost 2 decades ago and what we see now is the left-overs

Yes I know but I was specifically asking about the Russian ones.

I am just wondering how they can sell non matching Russian ones for $850 to $1,000. Does somebody really buy them? I see those prices on GP too but there are many sellers on GP who are trying to create a market when there is none, i.e. marking overpriced stuff as sold when it isn't.
 
Prices are stupid high lately,but i wouldn't expect it to change unless the regs do...But...850 to 1k for a mismatch is crazy...I'd call and ask any vendor who is still offering Russians if they are matching....

Oh okay ! I certainly wouldn’t pay $850 to $ 1000.00 for a non matching Russian

After purchasing just one !

It does seems to high for sure though

Let's call it value. A number matching rifle has a higher value. The problem with matching numbers is that even forced match counts as matching - like scribbling through the old number and hand engrave a new one. I had this with an order from Tenda where I bought an "all matching" Mosin and it was not what I expected, some numbers were force matched.
 
Good to know, I was told at the local fun store, that the ones with non matching are usually better "quality" because the broken/worn bits have been replaced. Does anyone know if that holds true in their experience?

This is not true. Non matching SKS are non matching in most cases because they removed all magazines in bulk and pinned them to 5 rounds, then put them back on the rifles randomly without concern for serial numbers. The other most common part replaced is the stock which got damaged during usage. That doesn't mean that the rifle has been shot a lot, just dinged up.
