Tikka T3x 223

I just ordered a new Tikka 223 lite for coyote and paper shooting. Dies and lapua cases also on the way. With this being a 1-8 twist is my best bet to start with 50-60 gr bullets? I have to pick up powder to get started so looking for a good starting point.

I shoot 50-75s in mine. They all shoot well.

I dont own a tikka.

But i have and have had numerous 223’s and I like 75’s like the Hornady BTHP and 77’s like the Barnes MatchBurner.
I use 69 MB’s for loading large volumes of bulk plinking ammo.

I shoot 55-77 grain and all shoot well with the heavier punching clover leaf groups.

My TikkaT3X did OK with 55 grain bullets but is super accurate with 73 grain Hornady Match factory ammo and with handloaded with 69 grain Sierra Match King bullets. One raged 3 shot hole at 100 with both.

Hornady 75 Grain BTHP.

I find the 73 grains loaded to Hornady spec works extremely well in my rifle. Best group was in the 0.3”s and average is a little over 0.5”. I bought a ton of these and have not messed with the 75s. I do have some 75gr BTHP that were good as well.

It will shoot well with bullets from 40gr right up to around 75gr

IMR 8208xbr is probably the best for all weights, Benchmark and H322 too. Varget / StaBALL Match for mid to heavies

My favorite coyote bullet is the 60gr Nosler Ballistic Tip.

Puts 'em down quick with few runners and few exits.

If you aren't concerned with saving pelts, a 75gr ELD or VLD will fly a little better and do more damage!

My fav 22cal bullet for yotes was the 69gr TMK. Im sure the 77s are the same, they would make a good target and yote slayer.

When i had a 8 twist tikka it really liked the 77 gr sierra tmk and imr8208xbr.

Sierra's new 69gr Tipped VarmintKing (formerly Blitzking) should be an excellent dual purpose coyote / target bullet for a 8 twist 223. Should play nicely in a 2.26" OAL Tikka magazine too, the 69/77 TMK certainly do

I'm not really into reloading to get the same hole accuracy stuff but I used Hornady 52 grain along with h322 and am able to consistently hit the 4"plate at 500 meters

Try the 73 gr Bergers and see what you think!

Both of my Tikkas in 223 liked the 69gr SMK, and TMK.

I just picked some up.

I like shooting bullets in the 60-70gr range.
I think it's a good combo of speed/weight.
