Narrow'd it down to a 700 sps or a hawkeye stainless . I'm figureing on the rebarrel costing from 500 - 700 depending on the bbl . Would reboreing it be something to consider , If there's enough wall thikness ? And how much dose this service usually run ?

Do you have any contact info Dan ? I tried googleing him but nothing came up . How did your's shoot after rebore ? There are a few good smiths around here but none of them rebore to my knowledge .

Great thanks Blagron ! Any suggestions on the actions im leaning towards the ruger , im a sucker for those big claw extractors & the lc6 triger sounds good , can get one with a laminated stock for about 100 bucks more than the sps .

Might be easier to buy the Ruger in 338 Federal and just rechamber, if possible. - dan

The action will be 1/2" too short. The fed is based on the .308 case, and I believe even a .338FED barrel would have to be chambered to .338-06AI to take out the shoulder.

Just buy a Pac-nor SS barrel, pre-chambered, pre-threaded, and have a smith screw it on. Should be able to get the barrel for under $500, and you'll have it in 6-8 weeks.

They don't sell a stainless in 338 fed only blue . Just buy a Pac-nor SS barrel, pre-chambered, pre-threaded, and have a smith screw it on. Should be able to get the barrel for under $500, and you'll have it in 6-8 weeks. That sounds like a good option too , didn't know you could buy them pre chambered for wildcats . Thanks

The price Corlane's told me to re-bore my Sako m75 Greywolf to a 338-06 by Ron I believe wasabout $400 and he will only do the Sako if its a Stainless barrel. The Chromoly is too hard.

So for $600 I'm going with a new stainless PAcNor or Douglas barrel. I cant wait. But now I'm thinking 338-06 AI. Seen posted on another forum (Nolser) that the AI will give another 200ft/s
