So I'm reading that Blacktail licenses for Non res are quite achievable for myself, non resident.

Is there anyone here who can accommodate such an adventure?

I'm reading you can DIY there OR be guided, which is a draw card obviously.

I'm watching a Amateur hunter hunt them from a Boat an moving around, 4byFarm is the channel.

It's drawing Me in ?

Can anyone shed some light on this in brief please?

Or can I accompany you on a Hunt late 2026 ? Maybe even 2027?

Thanks.

I wish I could go hunt deer period lol. It would be fun to travel and go meet other people with the same interests but of different hunting backgrounds.
I think for us Canadian non resident Alberta might be the easiest? Maybe someone knows?!?!

If you know someone in AB they can act as a guide for foreign hunters. Rules are on the F&G site. I've done it a few times for friends/family from the UK, Australia, Italy and the US. They still have to buy their licenses though. Used to be cheap, no idea now days. - dan

You could buy a blacktail license in WA state and hunt without a guide.

I was unsuccessful this past fall but came close and learned a lot. Will be going back this fall for another try.

I think Saskatchewan has some draw opportunities for residents of Canada.

I've been invited to hunt washington blacktail a few times but still haven't made the trip.
Gotta do that one season for sure.

Here in BC , non resident Canadians from other provinces can apply for a Permit to Accompany for most of the big game species.
You have to apply for each species and also the dates you want to hunt those species.
Step one..... have a willing BC resident hunter
step two..... go online to the WILD system which is BC's fish and game licensing and information system and register for a BC Non Resident Hunter Number.
step three.... the BC resident hunter then goes into the WILD system and fills out the application for the Permit to Accompany including the nonresident hunter's information, target species and dates you hope to hunt. Pay the associated application fee..... iirc 50.00
Step four...... waiting game to see if it is approved.

if approved, the stipulations will be outlined in the permit.
The non resident hunter then purchases a Non Resident Hunting license and tags for the animal(s) listed on the permit.
The non resident hunter must always be in close proximity to the "host" hunter while hunting for animals listed on the permit.
However, the Non resident hunting license itself permits the non resident hunter to hunt for any of the "small game" species, unattended.

I have a friend from ontario who hunts deer with me when he can get time away from his business and the procedure is fairly straight forward when it comes to hunting blacktail deer anyways. We have been successfull applying for mule deer (blacktail), white tail deer and black bear.

it's too bad this option is not availlable to hunters from other countries. I would love to take Whelanlad on a coastal blacktail adventure.

ya that list is just for which Non residents of Canada would qualify to apply for the permit (non resident aliens) and not have to use a guide instead.
That list does not apply to residents and citizens of Canada applying for the permit.

unless one of us was a guide with availlable tags to donate so the trip didn't cost him a fortune.... short of marriage or adoption , BC is off the table sadly.
If I was Whelanlad, I'd coordinate with another CGN'er on a washington black tail hunt. Same deer and terrain that we hunt this side of the border. Or perhaps join one of the washington/oregon hunting forums and make some friends that might offer an opportunity. If I still lived down near the border I'd hunt down there every season if time permitted but being 5hrs north it makes it a big trip for me.

Hunter host would get him hunting in AB, all big game on the table, as per the regs. Certainly WT and mule deer, moose. Bison used to be easy, not so much anymore. Black bears, wolves, coyotes. Pronghorn, elk, cougars. Mountain goats and sheep are draw, I think, but check the regs to male sure. There's a fair amount of game here, if you put in the work. - dan

Yeah, So prior to covid, AlbertaJon I think it was, from here, was all IN to HH me! Black bear it was.

I'd almost be keen for the Bear but would love to Deer hunt aswell. Haha 🫣

If anyone does read this thread an does want to hunt Australia, I'd be more than happy to see what I can arrange myself, I don't have access to Buffalo or Camel Or any Desert hunting, but Deer down South East, private land (cattle farms) an Public Land for deer...

Private just means you can thermal or spotlight the hell out of as many as ya want too lol (population control)

Or we Backpack hunt, or Vehicle based Public land hunting, Alpine environment or Typical Bush areas....

Washington , it looks fairly good too! Thanks for that Heads-up!
