what will a good condition sten cost a guy these days. i have a little bit of extra cash and have always wanted to get one. must be live firing no dewats but i will take a dewat if the price is right for my collection.

all guns have gone up over the years and the 12-3 has done the same . i wish i could have bought more from O.G.T. in the day, they had some nice stuff to buy.

I have a 12(3) generic British STEN Mk II, but would prefer that it were a Long Branch to be more in keeping with the Canadian aspect of my firearms collection. That said, I refuse to purchase a 12(3) firearm only to have it disappear into the RCMP Lab for "inspection" which can frequently take up to 5 years! Screw that noise. I'd much rather avoid the wait and add a nice, older "#### and Click" deactivated Long Branch to my collection instead of waiting years for a 12(3) that I cannot discharge when I finally get it....

This one is a "Long Branch" though I have doubts as to the originality of parts based on the finish... Still works as it should so I can't complain too much...

I'm still sad I didn't get to find a sask sten (how is that a bad word that gets censored if not broken up? smh) example to preserve for posterity... But they were too expensive before the ban and now gone into hiding it would seem...

A friend picked up an Austen here and exported. It will get to live on albeit hidden in someone's armoury...

Based soley on the inconsistent finish of the various components, I would hazard a guess that what you have is a "mix-master" consisting of a Long-Branch Magazine Housing assembled with an unknown Receiver Tube and associated parts. The correct finish for a Long Branch STEN Mk II is a charcoal parkerizing identical to your Magazine Housing. The rest of your gun unfortunately does not appear to match.....

Mine's even weirder.

All I have on my magwell is a barely legible"Sten MKII" with a single digit "7" on the top. On the bottom there's a "B&T" stamped which I'm assuming is the manufacturer Broadhurst and Thompson (Britain).

If you look at it more than a ft away you wouldn't see jack.

Agreed on the 12.3 purchases. I have long wanted an MP40 to add to my collection but the whole RCMP lab thing totally turned me off.

I guess that means I am stuck with my 12.3 Grease Gun. :p
