I have an IBI 26" 1-7 twist .223 Wylde barrel coming in. Looking for input on powders and bullets for heavier 77+ gr bullet loads.

What are you all using? Any recommendations on bullets and powder?

Current barrel is a short 16" 1-9 twist so went to the opposite end of the spectrum for the new barrel. 1-8 twist is a great in-between for light and heavier.
I have a 26ā€ 223 rem barre that’s 1:12 and is great for lighter stuff but when you get free ammo it’s hard to say no. I hope it shoots well!

I’d prefer something longer to try some ftr stuff but I’ll figure it out!

What did you load in the 1:9?

Most 53/55gr bullets with H335. Wanted something heavier for longer range.

How much further are you planning on shooting ?
With a 1:7 twist , people have been shooting F/TR using 80.5, and 85.5 Bergers well at 900 meters.
I have had great success with the 80.5's in one of my rifles in a 1:7 as well , my barrel is a 30" Kreriger however.

Pretty hard to go wrong with Varget.
Varget is a solid bet I would say but I keep mine for 6BR.

I have a bunch of N140 and will be dialling in a load right away for 223, this is what Ultimate Reloader reverse engineered for some ultra accurate factory ammo he tried (24.6gr N140 and 77gr Berger projectiles).

One thing I have been finding with N140 is that the 24 / 25gr levels it fills the case pretty good (stick powder) and I am pretty sure it is a compressed load (which I generally prefer to avoid).

Stiff charge of Varget under any good bullet from 73-80 grains. Hell even my lowly little Ruger American will stack the cheapest 75 BTHP into 1/2 MOA all day long with 2650fps from a 16" tube.
