browning a-bolt 375H&H

I've never owned one, but I have handled one. I feel that it's frame is a bit too light for .375. For a few more dollars, the CZ550 seems a better choice. I ended up with a Win70 XTR that I purchased here in the EE and with the addition of a Limbsaver recoil pad is a fine rifle for me.
 
I have only handeled the sythetic stocked version (is there a wood one?) and it did not balance very well. It was very front heavy. I have been told they beat the crap out of you as well.
 
I find the BLRs and older BARs somewhat interesting. OTOH I feel that the A-Bolts are overpriced Tikka or Weatherby wannabes. The new ones are just crap. If you need a .375 H&H, get a CRF like a CZ, Ruger, Win pre-64, Mauser, etc.
 
well maybe with any luck winchester will make the 375H&H again with the re intro of the model 70, so realy a-bolt in general junk i always considerd them to be of good although i have no experience with them i just trusted the browning name
 
Got a whack of Remys......... but I do have one A-Bolt, a composite stalker in .300 Win Mag. Like it fine & she's a good shooter. Don't need a bigger boomer than that at this point......................

Maybe ... but not for the initial run. Depending on specific model, the first go-round will be with 243, 270, 7mm-08, 308, 30-06, 300 Win Mag, 270WSM,
300WSM and 325WSM.

As I'm given to understand, the tooling hasn't even been set-up yet ( can't be ... to comply with the agreements made when the New Haven facility was shut down ) but is scheduled for later this Spring ... first shipments probably Fall.

yeah thats what i was thinking to with any luck the new winnie's will be good and we will see a return of the heavy barrels and the safari guns well here is to hoping.
 
I have one in a left handed stainless stalker. The A-Bolt is not my first choice for a rifle in this caliber but being a lefty, the options were limited. It's a very light weight rifle for this caliber at around 7.3 pounds or so without a scope. Recoil can be harsh. Comes in around 52 foot pounds with a full powered load. I practiced a fair bit with it and now find the recoil quite manageable. I carried my Browning for moose, deer and bear last season and am actually pleased, especially for moose since I was basically walking most of the day. I was also pleasantly surprised and pleased with the accuracy out of this hunting rifle. One day I will eventually acquire a Winchester Model 70 Safari in left hand or build a more proper 375 on a Montana action but for now the A-Bolt will do.
 
The Howas seem to get good reviews,no matter which brand name is on them. I had a late BBR in 338wm back in the early 80s. It was a good shooting gun,that did'nt kick much worse than a 30-06.
