Looking for .22 Recommendations

I would go with a CZ 457 or Tikka T1X. If you want to get that chassis you mentioned, both those have a ton of options, but a stock model would be fine for gophs. I would go for a Heavy Varmint barrel model if you want to shoot often off a bipod, fence, tripod, or hood of your truck. Regular barrel if you want to shoot primarilly off hand (standing). Personally, I go with the heavy barrel for gophs and the lighter for grouse where it is more walking than shooting.

For a scope, nothing crazy, but I would want at least 12 power and a good reticle with hashmarks so you could do holdovers.

Hello there, I just want to say thank you to everyone for taking the time to come out and reply. I don't like to come off as ignorant, id rather make the right decisions the first time and not be kicking myself for not asking or using AI to help me decide.

For the vamrint side of things I'd say 50-60 yards max. I've read that quiets are only good up to about 30-40 yards on a good day, and if I find I can get closer to the groundhogs I will.
The problem is I have 20 horses outside at any given time in the paddocks around. (I won't be shooting in live paddocks, I'm not that skilled or crazy)
So mostly groundhogs, some mice and rats. I need to be quiet mainly for the horses and boarders/ship ins on the property.
I'd like to play around with distances also in my free time when plinking. I'd be using the same ammo. CCI quiet seems to be the way I will be going

Just wanted to add that rimfire rifles are really picky on ammo and every rifle is different and works better with some brands than others. I know keeping the noise down is really important for ya, but you may find an ammo that gives you a significant gain in accuracy. Never shot CCI quiets before, so can't comment on that ammo specifically.

Savage mk2 fvsr if you don’t mind crappy mag, but CZ 457 is top choice for best bang for the buck and tons of aftermarket parts for when you fall in the rabbit hole.

Don't rule out used rifles; CZ455, 452 as well.

I have a 455 I got a good deal on, I built a precision bench rest rifle using a brand-new 457 take off barrel. I put a CZ Compensator on it because I liked the look better than the thread protector.

My buddy has a 457 with the identical barrel but no compensator; we quite often go the the range together. He, I and everyone else note that with the same ammo, my rifle sounds about 30 to 40% quieter. Both rifles are in MDT Chassis; mine an Oryx, his is the one that CZ put on at the factory.

He wants a compensator. LOLIMG_1646.jpg

I also have an old TOZ single shot I picked up for 200, I am running aperture sights on it. It is a laser with it's long, heavy barrel. I also have a nice little Zastava with a low power scope, and a CZ 452 with beautiful wood and factory sights for plinking. Both are light fun little rifles.

No doubt, of those two, the CZ is all-round the best.

All of these rifles will shoot more than accurate enough with .22 at an effective range; they will also hit paper accurately beyond a reasonable hunting range.

I purchased a Tikka T1X during a black Friday sale at bullseye north for $670, regular $855. I would buy again at regular price, put a midrange $$$ scope on it.
Once I had the scope sighted, it hits target with the “boring regularity” another poster stated earlier. Bolt action would let you use the quiet round without issue. Nice rifle, smooth action, good price.

Just curious as to how quiet it has to be? My vote would be to just use target/match ammo. In a longer barrel gun they are reasonably quiet but very accurate allowing headshots as far as you can make them.

Well I'd like it to be as quiet as possible as to not scare the horses or people on the property. I have farms all around me as well so I just want to respect everyone's surroundings.

To be honest, standard velocity sound doesn't travel far.

This is HV vs CCI quiet (710fps) out of a 16.5" 10/22. Note doesn't cycle the action.

This is CCI Subsonics HPs (under 1100fps) out of a 33" barrel..

You can also find some 60grn SSS...

I could sound test between a 16.5" Savage MK2, 21" Anschutz and 25" Toz 8.

Then Add a 5.5"

If they are "hobby farms" owned by retired teachers, you may want to stick to a slingshot. LOL

It's rimfire, nobody just buys one and calls it done. It's a caliber that you'll have multiple. I have about 7.

I know a few fellows who had light primer strikes on their Savage 22lr bolt guns. Several threads at rimfirecentral. Something to be aware of (maybe).

I have had great experiences with CZ 452 and 457 models. I like the CZ Trainers with 24" barrels and the CZ Jaguar with 28" barrels. Both have nice iron sights ( if that is a consideration for OP), and take scopes as well. The long barrels are quiet on the shooters ears. I now lean to the 457 with the lower bolt throw as mentioned by Slinky.
Any CZ barrel length will be a practical and a fine choice , just personal preference. Tikka are nice as well and just as highly rated.
Also reports of misfire and feeding issies with T1x on rimfire center and reddit.
