The Auguste Francotte Project

Will do. The basement is under construction now. The wife had an idea which led to redoing 4 rooms. Currently working on my shrimp room to get it back up and running at full capacity because im down 4 tanks. My largest tanks have been sold off to make room.

Mmmmm fresh shrimp. I'm getting hungry.

Back to the project in hand.

Snagged this Francotte catalogue image from the wilds of the internet but have not found the source of it since. The upper gun is basically my gun except in pinfire action. Interesting that the Lefaucheaux actions are priced here at quite a lower price than the "English action" below.

I asked Google to translate
" Fusils doubles Lefaucheux A Broche
Bascule double cle, devand adherant, toutes pieces fer, detentes charniers
Canon damas anglais fin, platines 3 piliers, grande cle filet, gravure anglais, tremps mate et jaspee"

According to the robot it says:
Lefaucheux Pinfire Double Shotguns
Double-action action, slick forend, all iron parts, hinged triggers
Fine English Damascus barrel, 3-pillar locks, large threaded key, English engraving, matte and case-hardened finish

There you go enabling again, Steve. James isn't much better. Worst of all is the pipemaker.
John, I’m more like your G-A Sponsor.

My role is not to enable or punish bad choices, but foster and support your healthy endeavours in building a diverse and thriving gun collection, one that provides you with loads of spiritual fulfillment, and in this John I’m happy to report you are Winning!

Remember these words from the G-A Meetings:
“God Grant Me The Serenity To Accept The Things I Cannot Change, like badly pitted barrels or stocks cracked at the wrist, The Courage To Change The Things I Can, when duty calls me down the long, dangerous and expensive path of restoration, And The Wisdom To Know The Difference, if BUBBA has won the day.”

~And remember if things look too seized, dark and rusty, don’t lose hope, there’s always a light at the end of the bore.

You’re doing Great Buddy :D

Here's to the good days and get back to that Francotte project!!

Did someone say BryBen is cooking shrimp? Any Cajun or Coconut ??

That was a nice upland hunt we had that same visiit Mike. I like to seriously threaten the grouse and woodcock without actually killing very many. The dogs were not too impressed with my shooting but had a great time as well. Thanks for your ongoing support re: G-A.
Which of your impressive collection were the two guns you hunted with again? I had my Roberts hammer 12.

Without trying to derail the thread, I’ll note that despite my very best efforts, I bought a gun today. Had no intention. Didn’t plan on it. It just appeared and I needed to buy it. 🤦🏻‍♂️
I've heard of that malady. Congratulations, James. (you're so weak!)
No worries about the thread. It goes where it goes.
Was it an exquisite Tolley hammergun by chance? I'm haunted by one that had me wondering what I could sell in order to pay for it.

No, it was a little more mundane than that. But it had unexpectedly lovely wood. It’s going directly to Chris for a little TLC. It will show up in the appropriate thread sometime this spring I imagine. And yes, I admit it. I am weak. 🤣.

Funny that you mention Tolley. Of course I love mine but I have a friend who had had a hammerless Tolley 20 ga for about 4 years that she thought didn’t fit her. So she never shot it. On a whim she took it out one day last month and shot clays better than ever. Now she’s in love! What I learned from that is never sell a gun! 🤣

Now….tell me more about this Tolley hammergun!

sorry it's a secret gun. it may be a legend or it may be a myth but there have been hints and allegations of its beauty and power. Some say it drives men mad.

Greeners, Greeners, Greeners, it's most usually a Greener....
I don't really even have a good explanation for that, just ended up here.....

You shot a Teal that afternoon/evening, decoyed right in, nice shot too.
I got a couple grouse one day, with an 1899 damascus barreled Greener.

Keep up the good work on the Francotte and others, and Have A Great Day! :D

I too picked up another late last year...... my 5th --------> WW G??????
It really is a nice example of what it is!

I still could use a nice Hammer and a Royal, and then I'd stop. Probably.

All Good Fellas!
Someone's gotta take care of these!
