Hi All,

Okay - newbie question here. I want to pick up a Norinco M14S (looking into one on EE right now) and change the stock. I'd prefer to slap it into a JAE-100. So question... I'm no gun guru or anything. I can service my firearms (and of course shoot them), but that's as far as it goes...for now...

How hard is it to change the stock on a gun? Should I be taking the M14 and the new stock to a gunsmith?

Looking forward to your opinions!! Thanks in advance. :D

I'm a newbie too with the Norinco M305 but I don't think you need a gunsmith. I've just swap my norinco stock for a USGI one and it's very easy to do. Go read the faq about the M14S and you will find alot of info on "How to do..."

I'm not sure if the JAE is a direct drop in replacement ore not but to remove the stock all you need is a cleaning rod to pull the trigger group out.

Make sure the rifle is unloaded with no magazine in and the hammer is cocked. You can also remove the trigger group uncocked but you'll be fighting the hammer spring. Place the cleaning rod in the hole in the trigger guard behind the trigger. Use the rod to lever the guard out of the reciever and rotate it forward. Pull the trigger group out and then seperate the stock from the action.

This is why one should pull back on the oprod(hence cocking hammer), check unloaded and then put on safety to prevent hammer from falling while taking triggerguard down.

it should be a straight over swap, other than doing up the bolts for the locking tabs on the jae. defianately not something you should need a gunsmith for..... if you have problems..... post here, we'll take care of ya :D
