Need help choosing a scope please.

If you get lucky, maybe you can find an older used Leupold 6.5-20 Vari-X III EFR for that money. You will likely have to give upwards of $600 for that scope, but it's your best bet. A newer VX3 will be pricier so try to find a Vari-X III. Don't get fixated on the 1/8 moa clicks...I shot rimfire metallic silhouette with the 6.5x20 and never found myself wishing that I had 1/8 moa adjustments.

How small? I use a 6-24x Arken EPL-4 on my Tikka T1x, it is FFP, but I find the reticle fine enough for 22LR benchrest. MSRP is $500.00 but i have found them cheaper on sale. Another option is the Bushnell Engage 6-24x, the Deploy MOA reticle is very fine (SFP), but it is a little more $ unless you wait for Bushnell days sales, or find one used. Both have good glass clarity, and check 90% of your features. Not sure why 1/8th click is that important. The people winning matches at my club (myself included) use optics with 1/4" MOA or .01 MIL @ 100 all the time. That translates to 1/8th and 1/16th at 50 and 25 which is plenty fine for zeroing. There are enough other variables that affect shooting 22 benchrest that come into play, that the scope adjustment isn't really a determining factor.

Thanks for the reply. Benchrest style targets is what I’m shooting. 1/8 clicks isn’t mandatory for what I’d like to do, but I don’t think it’s handicapping me either.

Fair enough. Both those optics are the ones i have used, and they work very well (my club shoots 50 and 100 yard competitions). I had the Bushnell and swapped it for the Arken, as i like the reticle better, but both work very well on a budget. I also have the same Arken optics on 2 centerfire rifles and another 22. Four for the price of one Nightforce.
