Going to be moving to the states. What pistol should I get?

Of the ones listed my choice would be the Sig P365 or the S&W MP. I've shot both and prefer them over the Glock. The Sig appeals more because the grip modules can be changed and the Macro can be converted to an XL for carry.

My advice would be to ignore the advice here (included mine) and find a rental range where you can try these firearms for yourself if you haven't shot them already.

I am moving to the states in June and have started doing some research on the best utilitarian gun. Currently leaning towards a glock 19, but below are a couple models I'm looking at:

  • Sig p365 macro
  • Glock 19
  • S&W M&P
  • PSA Dagger
  • Ruger RXM
  • Springfield echelon

What do you think of the above/what would be your go-to recommendation?

Is this your on;y concern while moving with your family to another country?

Which state?
I believe he said Indiana.
It's a pretty good state as there's almost no restrictions on ccw and is a constitutional carry state.
For ccw a s&w shield plus or bodyguard.a sig 365 but I would suggest with a safety.
Don't get a sig 320 unless it's a range toy.

Don't forget an ar with a frt for fun.

Unless you are a US citizen with I would check the rules of handgun ownership and use in the state you are moving to before making too many plans.
As someone who now resides in the USA & Canada, I'll clarify with some facts. I purchased pistols & long guns on my L1A visa and you can on all work visas, you will need more documents and you will get hit with a delay on your 4473 when buying but it will go thru or you will Brady out and it goes thru by default.
Even when we had our green cards I would still get hit with a delay but they usually phoned for pick up the next day, getting my LTC fixed all that and we now breeze out with our goods the same day, get to take the test & oath next October which will be memorable. To the OP, have fun and get an immigration lawyer, the company I work for had the services of Ogletree Deakins and I couldn't imagine having to do it without a good lawyer.

Oh, I just saw your response. You’re looking at general use. I would go with a stainless Colt gold cup 1911 then. A friend of mine has one, fantastic pistols. Although if it was me moving to the states it would be a BFR in 30-30. I really regret not getting one before the ban.

All of them is the answer. I'd start with the G19 Gen 6 if it were me.

Lucky bastard. I'd go for Glock. Easiest to get parts for and cheap.
