Winchester Model 21 28 Gauge

I am beyond sparked !! Just got off the phone with my #1 son with a plan to drive down to CSMC… Google Maps says only 7hrs and 35 minutes from my doorstep. They have lots of M21’s to look at including some 20/28g combo sets. We have a plan… better weather for the drive from Ontario to New Britain, CT…a pocket full of money and credit cards, and to find the absolute best steakhouse there for dinner!!
….that little M21 28g with the English straight stock being auctioned looks good. Starting bid $6,000USD. Might have to throw my hat into the ring for that also. What’s the old saying? …one is none and two is one…

yes i have owned and shot 21's but sold them off for reasons mentioned
i have a hand full of parker's but not a 28 ga because they to are a pricey gun
i do have a 20 and a 16 on a o frame which likely the nicest handle 16 ga ever

I agree fer sure on that. I've tried a couple of model 21's back in the 70's and they were a tad porky for my liking, but they were solid, well made
guns. If I was to get a nice little 28 ga I'd grab one of the Huglu 202B units as they are perfectly in my weight preference & price range.

Yes I agree, as a hunting 28 gauge the Model 21 is on the heavy side for my taste in a 28 gauge field gun.

Most people these days, when buying a gun like the Model 21 are not planning on using it much, if any at all in the field.I believe they buy them so as to have a high quality and rarer gun.For myself, I would call owning one as having a prestige gun.For myself ,a holy grail gun.Not so much as to use ,but to just own and enjoy that I have one.:)

The chances of myself ever being able to afford one, are slim to none,but always nice to dream about owning one.All just my opinion.:)As I have said before, I would not turn down a nice 28 gauge Parker or Ithaca either.:)
 
This should get a reaction. I think most everyone reacting to the weight of a W21 are close to or over the age of 75 and cant do a full day in the field any longer. I said most not all. A 7lb gun was never a factor in my early years nowdays a pocket full of shells is to much extra weight.:LOL: They are a nice gun in my books a little stout but nice.

Life has been interesting. With money it was always feast or famine, more just getting by. As you get older you try to catch up on some of the things you could never afford. Now that you have the money to spend you may not have the time to enjoy what you buy for very long. So whatever I buy has to make me very happy while Im still above the grass, and when Im gone…Im sure my children will cherish them.

I put a Belgium SxS into my grandfathers casket years ago. I expect my son to put the other matching SxS into my box when the time comes. In my mind these were the two ‘Best Guns’ that we’ve ever owned, they are priceless.

Think you are right on your thoughts

.I remember a time, when my 3 inch Browning Auto 5 ,with a 32 inch very rib barrel did not seem over heavy at all.Seems it must of put on weight over the years though,as it now seems quite a hand full.:)

Probably should start attending NEG meetings myself.It is a terrible affliction ,to suffer with alone.:)

Here be a nice 28 ga Parker two barrel set unit at a good price at present. :) I'd be tempted to get 'er but me home be gettin' a new roof this

Do you know MrBill? He seriously has the worst case of NEG I’ve ever seen. The amount of guns a lot of people have is the number of gun safes Bill has and I think he’ll be needing more shortly. It’s baaaad

Here is a picture of me and my ‘meds’…

When I was 25 it was “sooo many women, so little time” Now at 75 it’s “so many toys, so little time”. Those pushing my age bracket won’t need an explanation of the above. And as for you Mr. Chris, you know me so well, I’ll see you at the next NEG meeting and don’t forget the coffee and dognuts.

Sniffing spent paper shotgun shells..............Lol, we pick em up and pass them around so everyone can get a whiff! Lol
 
Here's a CSMC M21 20/28 ga two barrel set. Has double triggers, ejectors, #1 engraving, cased with accessories. The 28 ga has 29" solid rib barrels with Briley choke tubes and weighs 6lb 8 oz. The 20 ga has 30" barrels, 3", solid rib, Briley choke tubes and weighs 1 oz more than the 28 ga.
Asking price is $14,950 but is sold pending.
This should spark some interest.

Bill, that gun is amazing. I like everything about it except the double triggers. Two barrel cased set, the price is very reasonable.
