Looking for a 22LR target pistol

To the OP, I'm not sure what your budget is, but if you are planning on competing at more than a club level I would seriously look at a Walther or a Pardini.

Older pistols like the S&W 41 are fine and extremely accurate but finding parts is a real issue.

The S&W Model 41 was produced for decades until the end of 2025. Parts are widely available and will remain so.

If you go to the Shooting Federation of Canada website and look under “ Exemption Letters “ , it states that they will be assisting in letters for Olympic and Para-Olympic events , which are , air pistol, rapid fire pistol , sport pistol and which are the only events listed by the Olympic Committee . You must also have a training plan , coach and attend the Provincials and Nationals and register for the tryouts in whatever discipline you decide upon. Standard pistol is not an Olympic event , it is however for World Cups , Championship of the Americas , etc , yes. Have shot Provincial , National and International competitions for many years .

You seem to be overstating the requirements for getting an exemption letter. The wording on the SFC website is: "Must be able to provide documentation substantiating that they train, compete or coach in a shooting discipline that is on the programme of the International Olympic Committee or the International Paralympic Committee." Note the specific wording: train, compete, OR coach. It doesn't say you have to have a coach (or be a coach), or that you have to attend the Provincials or Nationals. I think you'll find it is sufficient to be training at club level. And altho Standard Pistol is not an Olympic event, 25m Pistol (aka) Sport Pistol is.
