If so, ouch. The 3-9x40 Freedom is already over $500+tax, and that's their entry level scope. Add 30% and your pushing $700 or more after taxes.
That's really going to hurt their adoption by new hunters. Combined with the price hike that happened when they changed to the freedom line they're getting really expensive. Sounds like a huge win for Vortex though...

Absolutely, I was a Vortex user and while they offer a good variety of scopes at a reasonable cost, the glass isn’t the great on most of them, and the lifetime warranty needs to be advertised for a reason. I was going to switch over to Leupold for better glass and better “quality” but after doing some research it looks like Leupold isn’t significantly better than Vortex in terms of reliability, especially for being 2-3x the cost compared to Vortex equivalents.Access to information has eliminated Leupold and vortex. Lots of other brands that offer significantly better products.
Only people recommending Leupold are old fudds, and vortex needs the stellar warranty because the product is

Likely a reflection of where they source their sub components and their current administrations trade policies coupled with the reality that corporate debt doesn’t have extra room to shrink margins…
I like Leupold’s VX3 & 5’s but they are already on the bump at existing prices and if they head to levels you suggest other premium brands would be my preference…their lower line scopes will be toast in the marketplace, they’re already overpriced.

Avoid the new and buy used off the EE. I picked up several excellent Leups' at great prices that served me well for many years.
Even the old variX iii are great. Had a vari X iii 6.5-20 EFR on my cz455 for many years and it was excellent quality glass, easy spotting hits at 200y on paper.

I agree and do the same. A $500 used Leupold gives you a lot for you money compared to to a $1200 new scope of any brand imo. Of course I’m talking hunting here and not Fclass competitions. I’ve shot games with fix 4x old tasco, 2-7 Leupold rifleman and 3200 series Bushnell in all kind of light situations w/o any issues.

Jesus glad I didn’t pass on paying just under 3k for a display model VX6HD 4-24. This will put them at almost double what I paid going forward if true. Who’s going to pay 6k for an optic period that market has to be remarkably small.
The one lgs showed me the cost increase. He’s probably not going to order many.Rumour hazzer that Leupold is raising optic prices in around 30%.
One merchant has expressed this view.

It’s not just scopes. I bought a Uberti carbine just over two years ago and the latest prices are $250 more. I paid under the current price with taxes and delivery. Everything seems to be taking bigger jumps in price lately.
