Morisson Lever-Action

I've one in .357. It looks like they cloned the Rossi 92, or at least took the safety from it.

I've had no problems with it. It's not quite as smooth as a nice Winchester, but I blame the baked coating more than anything. The loading gate gets to be a thumb buster if I'm running over 100 rounds through it.

I might disassemble it just to polish up wherever a cartridge rubs while loading.

On sale they are certainly good value, at least so far. O'Dell said there was little warranty work being done on them.

The 30-30 is a different beast, though. Marlin clone I guess

The firearm itself is incredibly accurate and I found the iron sights very functional and well centered, ejecting rounds was never an issue however the lever did struggle more often than I would like a $900 gun to struggle and it was particularly with the .38's where on occasion the cartridge would load but do a damn back flip in the process or get jammed, with the .357 the cartridge's typically cycled well with the occasional mishap of it not loading the cartridge. lets say 2/25 in .357 and 7/25 in .38 would be problematic. the tube magazine would routinely function perfectly with .357 but the odds of a .38 jamming the loading process was and remains very high. My last range day during my final 50 rounds at least 25 were struck but did not fire (both .357 and .38) overall this gun works pretty well I'm going to test it out again soon to diagnose it but in my honest opinion if you are already looking at spending this much this gun will give you some good times (in .357) but I have the feeling it wont last you very long. save some more money and get yourself a Henry

Hi, I was just wondering if you would recommend any 30-30 lever guns.
 
If I was buying a 30-30 I’d look for a used Winchester 94. There are six and a half million of them out there - bound to find a good deal somewhere.

I have one. I put around 60 rounds down the pipe. Shot my reloads and different bands of full metal jacket and soft points without issue. Very reliable and accurate to 25 yards which is the farthest my indoor range goes. I love it. Great rifle.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve seen a new Canuck semi break an action bar on the skeet field, and have heard of and seen others fail.

The caveat being that I’d be more comfortable with a Turkish gun with a good name behind it. I’ve had a beautiful CZ coach gun, and I’ve owned a Winchester SXP and thought them decent. Buddy of mine spent close to 5k on a Yildiz Perazzi clone and he’s happy with it.

I did buy a Canuck 92 in .357 during the Black Friday sales. I’m pretty impressed with it. Well fit, locks up tight, functions flawless. Have probably 1500 rounds through it from target loads to full power .357.

Only thing I don’t like are the baked on finishes that everything on the economy side comes with. I get it - it’s durable and cheaper than polishing and putting a blue job on it. Loading the thing is rough and gritty and becomes a thumb buster, though, after a few hours at the range. I’d love to polish the feed path. Just not sure I want to try tearing it down.

I honestly think it comes down to the old “you get what you pay for”. Cheap guns are always a gamble.

As a post script I’m not sure about the Morrison. It looks like a unique action, rather than a direct clone. I’d like to know more about its genesis
 
Bought one in stainless chambered in .44 Mag -- the 12" shorty model. So far, I'm quite impressed. We'll see how long it holds up without having to deal with parts breakage, but so far it's proven itself to be surprisingly accurate and has gotten progressively smoother as I've put rounds through it.

It also seems to have no problem digesting hot bear loads using a 265 grain Hornady bullet (the one designed for the .444 Marlin). That's really what I got if for given the number of grizzlies in this neck of the woods -- something quick and handy that fits into a back scabbard when hiking or fly fishing, and stainless to deal with moisture and general abuse. And let's please forego the "oh that's not big enough for bears" thing. Were it possible, I'd happily be carrying my S&W model 629 instead. Handy wins every time.
 
I checked out a few at Tenda, and they seem to be well made, which you can't always say from the Marlins.

It will depend on warranty and parts availability.
