I too LIKE that feature on a hunting rifle as I have had my bolt caught up in willows and popped it open 🤷‍♂️

I have had the same thing happen Jim. While goat hunting, bolt must have snagged something, pulled open and threw my live round on the mountain somewhere.

Not sure why it happens to some and not others. Definitely has nothing to do with carelessness, sh!t happens in the field!...:) LOL

My wife's left handed 700 ends up having the bolt open a lot, despite my trying advice, she insists to carry her rifle slung on her right shoulder, the bolt rubs up against her and guess what happens....
