Hey guys,

I know this has probaly been discussed before but I have searched a lot and I just can't find the infos that I'm looking for.

So, I'm looking to buy a .22lr pistol. I don't want a 1000$ target .22. I just need a sweet accurate handgun, arround 350$, that I will shoot before shooting my Glock 22(.40). I'm sick of going to the range, shooting 30 minutes and then leaving because I already spent 40$ in half an hour. Besides, shooting a .22lr will help me increase my accuracy with my Glock and with a .22, I will be abble to shoot non-stop for a full hour for only 10$:D.

So, after some researches, I came out with three models:
1) Beretta U22 Neos with a 6 inches barrel;
2) Ruger Mark III with a 6 inches barrel to;
3) Browning Buck Mark with a 5.5 inches barrel.

Right now, I really like the Beretta U22 Neos. I know a guy at the range who has one and he likes it. Also, I love how it looks(might be the only one in the world though) but that doesn't really mathers. However, I have read that it would be the less accurate between those threes. The Ruger Mark III seems to me like the most censed choice right now. I don't really like the Browning Buck Mark but I have read some good things about it.

So, wich one should I go with and why? Also, if you have any other suggestion of .22 pistol that goes from 200$ to 400$ NIB, let me know.

Thanks for all.

Buy an Advantage Arms .22LR conversion kit for your Glock 22.

I own a S&W K22, Berretta Neo's, and Walther P22, the Walther is the funnest gun, but can be really picky about the ammo you feed it (Likes CCI, it will shoot the other stuff, but has FTF occasionally) the S&W the best shooting, the Neos is my wifes gun, but its my least favorite of the bunch (bad factory sights IMO) I have yet to acquire a Ruger Hunter, but I've shot a guys at the range, and its the best auto .22 I've personally shot. I was going to get Kimbers conversion for my .45, but it doesn't lock open, even though thats no big deal to some, it bugs me, and I like having the separate .22's, when I go to the range, I can crank the .45 while someone borrows my .22(s)

I bought a Browning Buck Mark with a bull barrel and it puts them all in a 1.134 inch hole at 10 yards freehand, using Federal 36 grain High Velocity hollow points. I have shot quite a few different 22 handguns except the Beretta, because I don’t know anyone who owns a Beretta 22. For my money I’d buy a Browning.
Buy extra clips when you do buy the gun! I bought 3, and I wish I would have bought 4 or 5.
Browning Buck Mark $375 extra mags $27 each
We just had a 22 night at the club and it was a hoot!

+1 for ruger
I suggest you put the extra cash to buy a high end model. (competition target ss)

Alright, most CGNers think that I should get the Ruger MarK III and I agree. The U22 seems not really good and I prefer the Ruger over the Browning.

About the advantage arms kit, I have already considered this option in the past but right now, I prefer having to different guns to shoot.

One more question though, should I go with the Ruger Mark III or with the Ruger Mark III 22/45? The 22/45 has a grip very similar to a 1911 and I'm planning on buying one(probably way more than one:D) someday.

Thanks again.

Don't rule out the Ruger Mark 1 or 2, either, they're both great, just make sure you get target sights. As for the 22/45, I haven't fired one, but I held one and found the grip to be awful: too skinny and rectangular in the hand. I mean, it really felt terrible. I wasn't happy with the plastic frame, either.

I would suggest trying Rugers first. I can't argue they are acccurate guns for some people but I never did well with them, must be something about grip angle - I do not know. Brownings are great guns, the one I borrowed shot hi 90.s for my first time in rapid fire. Walther P22 is another grat gun, while not as accurate but for some reason I really enjoy shooting and just plain handling it. S&W 41 is great pistol as well, accurate and great lookin gun. I had all of those mentioned mulfing occasionally except Walther, about 4000 rounds with not single issue, other than occasional duds. Cycle even stingers and susonics - everything.

Ruger Mark lll is my choice. I don't have small hands, so that rules out the P22, and neos for me.

I'd get the neo if I had girly hands though. ;)

Better than the Browning buckmark, if you can find a used Challenger or Medalist that isn't over priced they are a better gun. I saw a medalist advertised somewhere recently, but all too often they are priced over $500 in good shape. I paid $250 for mine, but that was a few years ago. The Rugers are OK, but not as nice.

I don't like the 22/45. I am really not into tupperware-plastoc guns, but that's just my opinion. Having handled both, a 22/45 doesn't feel in anyway like a 1911.......
Question for the thread starter: where do you shoot around Sherby?
