Use bore butter over the balls as a sealant and around the caps to prevent chain fire. The bore butter softens the powder residue in the barrel and even prevents leading. NEVER clean with petroleum products, that way you season the metal the way a cast iron fry pan is seasoned with grease - nothing sticks to the pan, and it is a wipe up clean. After shooting is done - squirt some bore butter down the barrel while the pistol is still warm - put the gun away and when you clean it dont use soap and water or black powder cleaner (expensive soap and water ). Use bore butter and brushes to clean.I have been doing that for years and have had NO rust. As a test I put one colt 44 away uncleaned for 8 months and NO RUST ! The dried bore butter sealed the metal from rust.
By the way using it while shooting is messy as it liquifies when hot - keep a roll of paper towels beside you when shooting. In the winter it gets hard so I mix some vegetable oil in it to soften it up so it will squirt through a squeeze bottle with a curved tip to grease the caps .
Welcome to the addictive smell of white smoke !

I tried my Ruger with loads of 30, 40, and 50 grains. The 40 grain load was more accurate than 30 while 50 was way over the top. Don't take my figures for your gun, experiment. Who knows? You might do better at 25.

why 1851 did you sell one? no it was a private sale a few weeks ago i work shift work didn't even know there was a gun show in town! its prob for the best tho i would have booked sick and went and spent all my money lol.
"any man that says he doesn't like to shop has never been to a gun and boat show, its like trying to pull a muscle out of a conk shell"

Nope, not mine. I just saw a great looking Uberti at the show for a must-sell price, and I figured that somebody had to have picked it up.
