I used to think these were ugly guns, same with 1911 pistols. I now have a 1911 pistol and now want an AR of some kind. I think I really like the look of the Colt M4, not sure what brand yet, and need to save the money. I also want to find a converison kit so I can use it at the indoor range I go to.

Damn! At least you came to your sense!

My latest purchase was a Stag. From books I read, from folks here on CGN, it is well thought of and it's one of the least expensive brands. Can't go wrong with it. My first AR was an Armalite. No complaints there too.

If I get the bug for another AR, I plan to go RRA, also well thought of. Anyway, you can't go wrong with the popular brands, you'll just pay a little bit more depending on which one you choose.

I was lookingat Stag, their 1R is the style I want. Dlask also make exactly what I want, the DAR-701-4 M4. It's a bit more but must be pretty good from what I hear.

Good idea to try the AR. Not to mention the ability to pick up different length barrelled uppers or a flattop or handle design and plunking them on to your lower. I went with Stag and Walter and I think it's great. I then bought a short Armalite. Both work fine. Next I'll get an A2 upper. IIRC Colt uppers and lowers have a different sized take down pin and hole, which makes interchangeability with other brands a little akward. When I want to shoot .22 I use a .22 AP74 and leave the AR's for what they are. Mind you my friend has the whole Colt set up with Colt .22 insert and loves it! So there you go
