Tikka CTR or Varmint for dedicated range rifle

I had a Tikka Varm 8t years ago, 24", it shot 69 Scenars, 69 SMK, and 80 SMK's (single loaded) very very well with moderate doses of Varget. All those bullets consistently under MOA at 500 yds. They were not speed demons, but accurate as heck.
The 69gr pills"i" could shoot real good to 500yds, and the 80gr to 700yds if not too windy.
60 vmax for under 300 was crazy deadly accurate, but with the odd flyer.
Regret selling that rifle.

I have read this thread numerous times, researching different posters opinions and points. Thank you all.

However, I believe that after all of the info provided and potential costs associated with what will likely be the rifles end state, the Tikka Ace Target may be the best option.

The Ace topped with DNT optic seems to tick all the boxes for its intended purposes.

Hope you enjoy your new firearm when you get it. Let us know what you like/dislike about that model and how it shoots for you.

The Ace Target is a solid choice.

Advantages over the CTR that I see:
- Two stage trigger from the factory.
- Decent chassis v. the cheapo CTR plastic stock.

Disadvantages over the CTR:
- Cost v. CTR is what? (~ $1000?)
- With the CTR you have far more cutomizable options for stocks or chassis keeping within the budget of the Ace Target.
- Married to the Tikka double stack mag v. cheaper MDT AICS pattern mags (which is a little more expensive, but not much of a con in my view).

Appreciate your insights.

I just wish the CTR had the heavy bbl.
While likely not really required for a great range rifle, I do like the heavier profile of the Ace. It's what initially drew me to the Varmint. However, I will absolutely admit the Tikka metal mags are crazy expensive.

Placed an order for the Ace yesterday at my LGS. Hopefully it won't take too long to come in.
