Ross MK III/M1910 rear sight

Not a whole lot. They all came with one, and those that no longer have one generally aren't that restorable anyway. Is it a military bridge; charger guide, and flip-up sight, or a commercial bridge without the charger guide?

It is a military sight and bridge with charger guide and they certainly do have value. I have sold several of those sights and 2 - 4 bridges. Would have to do some digging to see what they sold for but, as I recall, each sold for well North of $100.00. This set appears to be in particularly nice condition. If I am not mistaken, someone is currently on the EE looking for a bridge.

There weren't images when I posted. This one is nice, and yeah, the $100-$150 range is not unreasonable.

It wouldn't surprise me that that one is made by Cooey. If it is it would have HWC stamped on it somewhere. I have a couple sites made by Cooey for the Ross rifles and they are collectable to people that collect Cooey stuff.

There is currently a WTB for one of those sights on the EE. Been there for quite some time.
Looks like the short range sighting notch on this one might have been filed down. If so, that would have a significant negative effect on value.

Perhaps the shiny area I am seeing is just from wear. It is not unusual to see these sights filed down for shorter ranges. Would like to see a straight-on shot of the short range sighting notch.

You and F P could be correct but, to me, the top of short range sighting slot looks lower, more open and flatter than the long range one. Have owned Cooeys with just such a modification. Would be happy to be mistaken.

Looked at it in good light and I don't see anything filed, although the top is missing bluing, I would guess from being handled.
All of mine look exactly like it. Even the ones on the MilMatch rifles. I haven’t compared them all closely, but the MilMatch rifles and the early MkIIIs including the HG MkIIIs all have a smaller aperture in the scroll plate than the later scroll plates and I believe that is the only difference in the standard MkIII sights. The MilMatch sights are graduated differently for the .280 cartridge.

Hi B noser. Beware of a guy in northern Ontario that was advertising on the EE for a sight with bridge.
I made him an offer on a spare bridge I had. He accepted then gave me a song n dance about the $$.
Haven't heard from again. John
