I dont have a detailed range report as we have over 40 inches of snow on the range, and I am not going to break trail out there. I did sight the rifle in at approximately 75 yards which is good enough for predator control in town where we are allowed to shoot.
I loaded up some 125 gr and 158gr HP bullets with H110 and Remington. 357 cases. I have only shot the 125s and recoil and report are minimal.
I have Leupold clone scope on it with low magnification, but I really dont like how it sits on the rifle. Waiting on a reflex scope (I want some magnification) but also am considering putting a Vortex EER 2-7x on it with a cantilever mount so that the eyepiece is forward and over the break action. I have looked at a number of LPVO scopes, but none have the eye relief that I want.
I have added a few things from Ali Express, a slip on pad to extend the stock for the LOP I require, its certainly not needed for recoil reduction.
The one thing I really dont like is that there is no pistol grip cover and the stock is hollow, which results in a huge opening for snow or other debris if you drop the firearm. I ended up trimming down a soft plastic A2 grip cover to fit snugly and close the opening. I could do some more trimming but left the rear flanges in place to aid pulling it out if I want to do so.
I use the rifle for in town predator hunting and while going out and checking trail cameras and other baits. Its light and short which is specifically why I bought it. I am sure glad that I put that plug in the pistol grip. I had an epic fall when snowshoeing into a bait last week - the toe broke through in deep powder and I went facefirst into a ditch with the rifle flying off my back. Luckily I had taped the muzzle but the rifle ended up deep down in the snow. Got it cleaned out enough and If the plug hadn't been there the whole inside of the stock would have been full of snow.
Found the forend hard to get off when I was home to dry everything that night. The nut was very tough to get off, even with a rubber strap wrench, and once loosened off, I had a hard time getting the forend off. Got it all apart, dried, oiled and will put back together.
Locktite is your friend, the threaded muzzle cover loosened up and I ended using blue locktite on it and the hammer extension . As mentioned by OkayShooter, I did use red on the picatinny rail screws after degreasing the holes and screws, one definitely wasnt torqued down from the factory.
I am waiting on my son in law to 3D print me a 3 cartridge holder that I will attach to the receiver with velcroe.

I tried using a fabric 2 shell holder but there isnt enough room on the receiver to fit well.
Its not a target rifle and will be used for plinking or while out checking cameras and baits. Once the snow melts, I will do some targets at 100 yards with the 2 different loads, as well as a bunch of .38 Spl ammo.
I just wish they would make one in .40 S&W!

I wonder if a 7.62x39 reamer could be used to convert a 300 bo model...
IIRC Savage used 308cal barrels in their 7.62x39 Axis Scouts, so that part shouldn't be too big of an issue.
An interesting question , you wouldn't think so though . It's at times like this that I regret not buying a Baikal single shot in 7.62x39 when I had the chance .

I'm happy with mine so far, had a red dot on for a while but switched to a scope for some load development.
Attached pic is typical 25m group with speer 125gr JHP, at 50m it opens up to about 1.5" groups so far but haven't had a chance to work with it much yet.

My primary reason for ordering this rifle was for a close range predator control rifle for in town work and for checking baits and trail cameras. I wanted a scope set up and could not find anything with enough eye relief where the scope didn't hang over the hammer, and almost all reflex sights had only a 3 - 4 inch eye relief. Tried a number of different sights and just couldn't find one that worked for me.
So I mounted a Vortex 2-7x Scout on it and it's almost perfect, still not happy with the mount - I need something that sits lower but extends beyond the rail for mounting the scope.
I did some shooting with the previous scope and found (unfortunately) that it would not shoot lead 158gr +P .38Spl training ammo of which I have a lot of. With 158 gr JHP .357 Mag handloads, I was able to keep everything in 1.25 inches at 100 yards.
As this will be the maximum distance in town, that will suffice for me. Its not supposed to be a target rifle, just something I can tote around on the trap line and predator control hunts.

I still gotta get mine zeroed. Slapped a 1-5x on it, never zeroed it yet.
I really wanted one in 357, but they were all sold out. None of the retailers I talked to had any idea if/when they'd be back. (I wold told a few times they were discontinued). So I bought a Henry Single Shot instead. It's a nice enough gun, but 22" is just a bit too long for what I'd had in mind.
Now I see the Rossi 357's are back. Marstar has some, and I'm sure others do too. I need to just tell myself that they're probably horrible shooters, and that I don't still want one.

I went out today to to an improvised range near camp to try out the new scope set up. Recognizing that this is not a target rifle, and I am not a bench rest shooter, I was hoping to get it zeroed at 100 yard with my handloads. The stiff trigger pull does make it a challenge...
I thought I was going to be heading back to the drawing board because my loads with Hornady 158gr JHP were shooting 4 inches low at 100 yards and I ran out of elevation adjustment on the scope.
I had 6 other handloads with Hornady 158 gr XTPs so I fired 3 to see where they grouped. When I walked up to the target, they were clustered in a 2.5 inch group almost 19 (measured) inches above the JHP strikes. I over adjusted the elevation turret downwards for the next three and shot low. I dont have any more of those loads at camp.
I dont have the load data with me for the XTPs but I am almost positive I used the same weight of H110 - will have to wait till I get home to check.
The most interesting aspects of today were:
1) Shooting some of the .38 SPL +P training ammo I had previously tried and found inaccurate - at 100 yards it sprayed all over the place, often multiple feet apart from the previous impact (using the same sighted target).
2) Shooting a ripe watermelon at 25 yards with the JHP. I was not expecting it to explode like it did and unfortunately it was too close to my portable taget stand which meant I had to hose it down when I got back to camp
So will finish the sighting in with the XTPs when I get home and should be ready for coyotes in town when we can start in mid November.
