Duplicating Buffalo Bore 45 ACP+P to 45 Super

250gr RNFP .451” Rim Rock Top Shelf Hardcast

Starline or Winchester 45 ACP brass
CCI 350
1.200”
Lee Factory Crimp

5.2” KKM G21 Gen 4 22 Spring
Good velocity gain with longer 5.2” KKM.
Excellent Trail Loads

Accurate 9 with CCI 350
cronograph
12.0 @ 998 FPS ( 45 ACP +P)
12.6 @ 1075 FPS (45 Super)
13.0 @ 1114 FPS ( 45 Super +P)

Glock 21 Gen 4
5.2” KKM
22 pound Spring
Wolff Extra Power Mag Springs

FYI
Winchester and Starline 45 ACP brass performed excellent no case expansion.Between the 2 prefer WW 45 ACP brass. In 4.6” KKM barrel length the 13.0 gr load was solidly in 45 Super zone at 1075 FPS with 250gr Hardcast. Excellent Bear Protection Load.

Where are you getting the bullets from? I’ve loaded Starline Super brass for my XD 5”. It really get those projectiles going!
Directly from Rim Rock

Make sure you get the RIM Rock .451 Top Shelf RNFP it’s 22 BHN hardness and 250gr. Good Bear Defense Bullet

FYI
It is OK to use 45 Super brass but not needed if you keep your 250/255 grand under 1160 fps could go higher but not needed.
The regular WW or Starline 45 ACP brass works just fine with the load data I gave . Make sure your XD 5” has the heavier springs and setup for 45 Super.

Max case expansion is .481” don’t go past that! None of my loads show any expansion in WW brass or Starline 45 ACP brass. Do Not use +P brass unless you adjust powder charge downward to accommodate less powder space in 45 ACP +P brass.

You can get higher fps and stay with +p pressure using ramshot enforcer

Enforcer is AA9 new brother !
I have heard good things things about Enforcer powder but both do about the same thing.
Even the load data is very close and again with CCI 350 primer. I am very happy with AA9 in upper 45 ACP + P / 45 Super / 45 Super + P with 250gr. 12.0 / 12.6 / 13.0 in 5.2” KKM. No pressure Signs like the 10mm I don’t think you can get enough of AA9 in the case with the 250gr to create excessive pressure in 45 Super.

Enforcer and CCI 350 a good combination in 45 ACP+P to 45 Super.

Yes, I’ve got a heavier spring. 22lb. It shoots the 230gr XTP’s really well at 1100fps. I’ve just wanted a good penetrator.
Rim Rock TS RNFP .451” it’s a Hardcast at 22 BHN at 250 gr very good bear medicine especially at 1075 fps 45 Super velocity. Rim Rock Top Shelf bullets is a good trail bullet.
Another good bullet for Bear is the Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator 200gr. 9.0 of Power Pistol with WW 45 ACP Brass and WLP primer @ 1100 fps at 1.235”
This 200gr XP handload duplicates now discontinued 45 Super Underwood factory load in velocity at 1100fps.

In 5.2” KKM with 22 pound spring G21
You can run all 3 different levels with AA9 and 250 gr Hardcast Rim Rock
12.0 for 998 fps ( 45 ACP +P)
12.6 for 1075 fps ( 45 Super)
13.0 for 1114 FPS ( 45 Super +P)

All 3 in 45 ACP brass by Winchester using CCI 350 Mag primers

Enforcer and AA9 are relatively close but are not the same powder. I load spicy .45 using Longshot. It does a great job from +p all the way to balls-out Rowland levels.
Longshot is an outstanding powder in 10mm and 45 Super. It’s like Power Pistol in burn rate. Longshot is my number 2 pick in 45 Super and my No 1 choice of powder in 10mm Auto.
I kinda prefer Longshot with 4.6” KKM in 45 super and AA9 in 5.2” KKM barrel lengths.

If you don’t have grizzlies to contend with. I suggest the Hornady 250gr XTP at 1.190” excellent bullet at 45 Super velocity levels the 9.0 of Longshot was excellent in 4.6” KKM using WLP primers in WW 45 ACP Brass using G21 and 22 pound spring. This bullet will give good expansion and over 20”of penetration in gel and good weight retention the 250gr XTP. Expect just over 1100 fps with the 9.0 grain load in 4.6”.
