Guess?
Well, after reading the posts and the majority glowing reviews for the Norinco...I just bought one! :D :dancingbanana:

I have been reading the posts and I have I noticed that one of the "must haves" is the USGI spring. Is there anything else I should replace with a USGI part? Does Marstar carry said parts?

Depends on your purpose, I've not replaced anything with USGI parts and it shoots very well. I bought the USGI fiberglass stock from a nice guy here, may shorten the barrel if I want to convert it to the hunting rifle.

Yeah, that the danger in hanging around here too long.
I ended up with 2 Norc M14's, and after reading about the SVT-40, I have one on the way, and now I'm getting interested in the Russian SKS shipment.
You guys are a bad influence on me!

I've been sniffin around the EE lately looking for something to spend money on, with all the m14's on there right now i've been thinking about jsut buying another...it's like a drug :D

usgi parts arent necessary at all. I happen to have an affinity for an all gi parts gun... that's just me.... i'm a lil bit compulsive hehehehe. go shoot her and have fun. If you want to upgrade... the guide rod is and rear sights.... maybe the stock.... but don't get caught in the usgi hype unless you plan on building an upgraded m14. If you bought it cuz it's a decent rifle for a hell of a good price... don't sweat the usgi buzz.... it's worse than crack if it get's a hold of ya... :D :D :D ....

Clean it up, learn how it works, shoot it as is. If you want to start tweaking it, go with the no cost, low cost things first.
Don't spend money just for the sake of getting this, that, or the other thing. Put some money into ammunition and range time.
There is lots and lots of information available about how one of these rifles can be set up. And it is not necessary to spend a lot of money.

I get p.m.'s every other day regarding "what do i have to do to make my norc okay to shoot" . NOTHING.... clean her up, and go shoot. However, if you want to reload, and you want to have a dedicated .308 chamber that will rule out the use of surplus ammo.... you will need a usgi bolt. Otherwise , all your rifle needs is a good suply of decent ammo..... and your finger , lovingly placed on the trigger :D

I would say grab a mount and scope. dont go cheap on the mount though. Wolverine caries ARMS 18 mounts and Smith Enterpirses also has good ones. The Arms 18 will run you about 200$ alone.

Any one that does not want to buy more guns than they need
should not have a computor or credit cards :dancingbanana:
Couse- that would not stop me -Gun shows you know!!

What KK1 said.

If you plan on scoping it, don't buy the cheap one. They don't hold a zero. Expect to pay about $200 for a decent mount for the m-14. I have a Smith 2024 on mine and it works great...

You sound like me! SKS is on order and I am weighing my SVT options....:)

I went with Frontier Arms....They may not sell the extra two clips like others, but with the sling, cleaning kit and free shipping, it works out to a good deal.

I have the same problem since I joined this forum the norinco M14 has moved up to the next gun in my acquirement list.....man I can't wait. must be like Christmas for you right now!

Not Christmas now...next Thursday! :D

Now that the weather is getting better, I can hit the range more often and work her in!

What do you think of the special Marstar mounts? $149 I believe.
