Beretta 1301 tactical aftermarket parts installed. Couple questions though

So I just got my 1301 T mod 2 and have added a few after market parts
Gun id ODG
I added a mesa tactical stock adapter
Magpul CTR stock
Magpul cheek riser
S&J mag extension
S&G barrel clamp

I’m waiting to get a chisel machining hand guard and I think that’s it.

Maybe an RDS

So, I plan on taking it to range soon and I have Hornady Black 00 buck ,Hornady Critical defence 00 buck and Hornady SST slugs.

Couple of questions.
It holds 6 rounds of 2 3/4 , is that the right amount?
Is the choke that came with the gun suitable for both these rounds?

WHAT! No Chisel folding aluminum stock with built in RMR mount? That is one incredible stock…hard to find in Canada though in the folding variety .

Should be 6+1 in the chamber...+another if ghost loaded. (2.75" shells)

The guns that I've ever handled all shipped with an "Improved Cylinder" choke tube (4 notches). If yours is the same, yes...those buck shot rounds, and any shot or slug round will be just fine.

Before shooting it for the first time (I'm assuming you've cleaned and lubed as per Beretta manual), do yourself a favour and apply "neverseize" (copper or aluminum {I use copper, just for color distinction}) to the threads of the choke tube and reinstall the tube, tight.

If you've never used it, it's a high temperature, tacky grease that will ensure the tube never seizes in the barrel. The threads will always break free when you want to change the tube.

Not sure if they all come with the same choke but the one with 5 notches was fine with slugs, haven’t tried 00 buck as the range I was at is slug only , as to tube length should hold max 5 of 3” but does indeed hold 6 of 2 3/4”

Edit: just read painkillers post as i was still typing, I may have misspoke about 5 notches… 5 cuts then equaling 4 notches?

As with any shotgun, it depends on what load you are shooting as to which choke you need. Mine with a full choke shooting 3” federal #4 buck I’m getting a 30” pattern at 35 yards. If you are using ammo with the flight control wad you can probably just use a IC choke.

The "right amount" is also known as the LEGAL amount. 🤷‍♂️

What does the caliber marking on the barrel say? It should say something like, "12ga 3in magnum".

The legal limit for a semi-auto shotgun in Canada is 5 rounds of the ammo the gun is designed for. Thus your gun should not accept more than 5 rounds of 3" magnum ammo.

The thing with shotshells is that they come in different lengths. Thus the number of shorter shells that fit into the magazine of a gun designed for longer shells is irrelevant. If you want to know if your shotgun is legal you will need to get hold of 6 rounds of whatever size shell the gun is marked for.

Mine too. Just double checked. 5 cuts(Notches). Says "Optima Choke -HP, OK-Steel-CL.
Stoeger site states "
***Please note that the constriction cut off for factory made choke tubes with steel shot is a Modified constriction, factory made choke tubes with a constriction tighter than Modified such as Improved Modified and Full are not suitable for use with steel shot.

Additionally, rifled or sabot slugs should not be used in a factory made choke tube with a constriction tighter than Improved Cylinder.***"

And, yes I wouldn't try Hornady SST out of it, as barrel is not rifled.
