Good 10/22 stock to mod

Since the GSG doesn't look like it's going anywhere, I'm going to toy with my 10/22.

Can anyone recommend a stock that's cheap (probably going to need more than one attempt), readily available, and will provide a basis for a custom project. What that project is I don't know, but I don't want it to look like an AR or make it a target rifle.

get a tapco t6 for sh!ts and giggles. Good all around stock for 10/22
