Scope mounting

I have a 336 Marlin SC waffle top in 35 REM that has a receiver site that is getting tougher to shoot due to aging eyes. I have no interest in drilling any holes.
Was wondering if anyone knows of some form of scope mount that could possibly be installed without drilling holes. I know…grasping at straws.
 
If it is a waffle top it is prob of the vintage that the tang is already drilled and it is an easy task to manuf an aluminum scope base to mount a usable mini or red dot scope...it just takes a bit of "out of the box " ingenuity to fashion a workable mount...when our eyes fail us "pretty" isnt a concern but function sure is.
I use two pieces of alum angle bolted together to create a platform that a small length of Picatini will bolt to for a mount.
 
If it has the rear sight dovetail you can look for one of dovetail pic rail kits, shorten it and stick a red dot on it.

The tang isn’t drilled.
The only factory holes are on the side of the receiver where the Lyman receiver site is mounted.
May have to bite the bullet and sell/trade the rifle but it’s something I truly do not want to do.
 
thee are mounts for red dots or reflex sight that fit the barrel dovetail and also found one that mounts in the 2 side screws
but not much help i you need a scope
Someone should be able to craft up a split clamp-on base that attaches to the barrel in the forward position like a scout scope, have seen a home-made version but not store-bought
 
red dots s waste of money as far as the comments of what to do clearly not viable options
option 1 take it to a comments gunsmith you only need two wholes drilled in it for a one piece scope mount not four
a waffle top 35 rem in average condition 800-900$ a waffle top in a average condition drilled and tapped 800-900$
they are not high end collectable rifles
if it was a 218 b or a 219 zipper that is a different story
 
Skinner makes a base with a dovetail underneath that fits the rear sight dovetail and is secured with a set screw. A reflex red dot can attach on it. I used one this way for awhile for this same reason as you're dealing with. Worked great.
