Dlask...don't bother.

Three years ago I asked Leigh to shorten and thread the barrel on my Rem 7600 to 18.6".

He said he could do it but not the re-installation of the front sight.

So I went with Rustywood insread who did a great job.

It speaks to the integrity of the business that they're OK with flushing their reputation down the toilet just to scavenge a few more bucks on the backs of their customers. I had a chance to supply him with some parts he needed a few years back and I passed. Glad I did now. I do my best to avoid dealing with scumbags.

My experience was flawless however my buddy was given lots of hassle on his 22 barrel for warranty work (unfinished and chattering through rifling, visible gouges in the barrel, one groove stopped 4" before the muzzle) and eventually he was told by DLASK that its was damaged because he shot CCI stingers and not regular 22 ammo. After 7 months of back and forth, they gave up and warrantied the barrel for him.

Dlask never was a barrel “maker”, they purchased rifled blanks and modified em.
Sounds like s h i t t y qc. dumb for them to dump time and money into a blank that was junk to begin with

kinda too bad to hear this. Back in the day I had a DAR AR15 lower from them that I built into a 9mm with a colt 9mm kit and a bunch of LAR 10 round mags. I got surprisingly good at bump firing that gun from just a regular shoulder hold - like scary good, it just takes practise. Of course, accuracy was all over the place because your shoulder hold is tentative at best when doing that. One local range booted me out one day for firing "full auto" - stupid fudds. Later learned that the benchrest guys complained I was too distracting for them, and "not serious".

That particular Dlask product was fine - but was also 20 years ago.

There's a couple 14 and 12" rem870 barrels showing in stock on the dlask site if anyone wants to gamble.
There's a thread somewhere where we used to keep an eye on these coming into stock.

There's also a thread on here about those very barrels being out of spec. Save your money where Dlask is concerned guys. The stuff isn't what it once was, and the owner doesn't care. He just wants your hard earned cash. I have it on good authority that S&J will be making shorty barrels for us soon.

I should add that I own a 14" Dlask barrel for an 870, and it's great...but it's an older one. Pre-retirement notifications from Dlask.

Hey that’s me , yeah barrel has some quirks for sure , I’ve sent 2 emails with no reply and my 30 day exchange period is almost up so unfortunately I’d recommend to stay away unless you want zero customer service and the possibility of getting a barrel that doesn’t fit properly

Well this thread started as a question about getting the basket weave stock

Apparently reading comprehension is not your strong point! The thread started as a “WARNING” to fellow Nutrs about Dlask shipping defective products with no customer service. No where was this started about basket weave stocks. Yours was purchased at a gun show and not through the business about the business the post was about.

Not uncommon as many businesses in their closing days do the same as they try to clear the remaining stock . Probably not the best option in buying sight unseen via mail order when a business is winding down . It is what it is .

No, no. No, no, no. You can't excuse Dlask for what they did. It's far from normative.

As a reminder, Dlask held a series of sales whereby he was selling faulty, sub-standard "Dlask" parts. Out of spec. barrels, I bought among other things a set of "Dlask" 1911 scales in ebony and the checkering is a mess. Uneven in spacing and depth. He sold me an 870 magazine cap, one of his iconic happy face ones, that was clearly a second as it had machine marks chattering across half the "smiley face".

He was selling faulty inventory on the market. Inventory he never would have sold while building or relying on his name, because it was junk drawer stuff.

Now, and quite oddly, we have a company who boldly states they've purchased all this sh1t (the sh1t Dlask couldn't even peddle), and that while they somehow guarantee that their QC is up to standard, they will not warranty any of their Dlask stock (not that Dlask did either as he was shuttering his business, no one could get in touch with him. Hence the reason for this thread.).

I've done my part by informing the community. Why anyone would spend a dime on Dlask's cast off junk, and apprentice f-ups, regardless of who's selling it, should think twice. Read: Don't bother.
