$350 to a Needy PersonWhat’s a 3x9-40 VARI-X IIc gloss in good condition worth in todays market?
I’ve seen some listed at $450 lately but that doesn’t mean that’s what they sell for or if freight is included or on top.

In general though I think the market in general is reflecting the economy, prices are just not what they were and I’ve tried some frugal offers as a starting point expecting them to be rejected only to be surprised they get accepted right out of the gate.
Used to be a time the asking price was firm, period, but after receiving tons of what I considered low ball offers on my for sale items I’ve learned it’s just a sign of the times and part of the markets revaluation.
Also I find the optics market is highly sensitive to condition. Any blemish no matter how irrelevant highly impacts its value, much more so than on a gun.
In your favour it seems this power range and objective size has less supply available and more in demand, lots of 50’s it seems but not as many 40’s.

I think that’s the one. I’m not on Rokslide and I probably should be just for information.
I’ve got a few new ones on the table to mount so hopefully they track well! I’ll have to give them a good test!
I agree the price hurts. I only buy things on sale. Which isn’t always but recently with the release of some new gen 2 stuff it has brought down the price of some scopes.
Like those VX-5HD 2-10s that Cabelas blew out at an all time low price not long ago.

The reason I like Leupold is they are made in the USA and not China or at least the one I have. I only had one issue with one vxIII 2.5-8 and it’s being fixed as we speak. Warranty seems to be good and service good too! Never had one that didn’t track but again I set and forget, I’m not the turrets twirling type.
Anyway I think every scope out there can have problems so just go with the one you feel good about it and trust! Some seems to have good luck with scorpion scopes…
