I’d like to learn how to bump the shoulder back and up my reloading game up a bit.
Was wondering if 350 dollar 223 Redding micrometer seating dies are worth it or not.also should I get the match grade shell holders for shoulder bumping or is there another way .
It’s gonna be 600 bucks by the time the dust settles and I’m a little gun shy
Currently I’m using 223 standard rcbs dies

I used the 223 Forster bench rest seating die along with the comparitor kit. Minimal shoulder bump for chambering. Was a great combo for my 8 twist Tikka Varmint with 69 gr Lapua Scenar's and 75 gr A-Max's

Buy a headspace comparitor kit and a bullet ogive kit. Use your measurements to adjust your current die’s and any other cartridges you may load for. Cheaper and more versatile.
This right here. I measure new and fired brass. On fired brass I make sure I’m not pushing the shoulder back anymore than .002”. If you push the shoulder back any further than what new brass measures your taking the chance of creating head space issues which leads to light primer strikes and ftf.

I am assuming you are speaking about the micrometer die SET? You do not bump the cartridge shoulder with a seating die, a shoulder bump die or a full length sizing die is used for that.
If you are going to use the dies or different bullets for multiple rifles, a micrometer head on a seating die is worth it.
As far as bumping the shoulders only on your cases, a Redding shoulder bump die is certainly worth the cost, but I would buy the shoulder die only and use your existing dies for neck sizing then bump the shoulder with the bump die.

Lee has a decent micrometer seater die
for .223 #91932 die set comes with collet neck sizer and micro seater dies, though they seem slow to appear at Cdn vendors
you are right any standard full length sizer can be set up to bump the shoulder, special shell holders are one way
A bushing neck sizer with out the bushing is another

I feel your pain, but I also strongly believe that everyone should invest in the frankford aresenal universal micrometer seating die, caliber sleeves from .224 up to .338 and a bullet feeder window like the rcbs matchmaster bullet seater, it's an easier pill to swallow when you can use it for everything, and yes the hornady bullet compartor kit is also a good to have piece of kit, look at the off shore branded kits on amazon for a fraction of the price
