How do they fit compared to normal sizes? What is your policy on returns if i order a $700 pair of boots and they dont fit? Id love a set of crispy boots but have no idea how the fit or if they're comfortable.

Crispi boots fit true to size, with a light to medium thickness sock. This has been consistent feedback from many customers.

Regarding returns, provided the boots are returned as-new (i.e. don't wear them outside and make sure the packing/tags are unblemished) you can return them for an exchange or refund - you are responsible for the return shipping.

In most cases, customer will order a couple of sizes and return the one(s) that do not fit.

If one looks at some online sales pics, it appears as if they are trying to sell Meindl boots at a premium

Last time I bought new Hanwag boots overseas in person at about 500,- CAD, not too long ago, the salesman talked about it...

Good guy, company and service, also handed out a beer (legal in some EU country stores). Measured out my feet with a computer sensor thingy and hauled out a few different pairs/models. Tried different boots with a fresh pair of my favourite socks which I brought into the store, to see what would fit best.

They also had upselling features like insoles and were able to mold the thingy in store to your specific foot specs. I stayed with the factory version.

I wouldn't buy plus $500,- boots online and pay for return shipping if they don't fit, just sayin'...

I know what you mean but not all has that option. For me to leave the island I live on and return home it's $76 in water taxi fees, plus what ever gas I use in my car.

And then it's a 7.5 hour drive or more drive to the store and 7.5 or more return.

I'd gladly pay $35 to return ship boots.

But yes if I was in the area I'd buy in person. It is a much better experience.

My last Crispi's (summit gtx) I bought were a half size too big, 11's (I bought online), it kept them anyway. It was 4 years ago, the soles are worn flat ( still in amazing condition, not even any torn treads, zero issues but the soles are gone) and I'm going to buy a new pair this month but I'll get 10.5 and 11's to make sure.

What boot would you recommend for the best ankle support?
When looking at the Crispi line, you will want to focus on models that have the ABSS Ankle Bone Support System:

Ankle Bone Support System

After many years of research into materials and experimentation, CRISPI® has developed a system called A.B.S.S. (Ankle Bone Support System). A.B.S.S. revolutionizes the comfort and protection of the entire ankle area thanks to a combination of innovative materials that allow the footwear to contour gently your ankle. This system offers outstanding sprain protection even on the roughest terrain whilst supporting the ankle in all conditions, thus limiting fatigue on the lower joints even after very long walks. The A.B.S.S. is a huge step forward in the manufacturing and of footwear and CRISPI® dedicates this exclusive technology development to its customers.

You then need to consider the height of boot that you find most comfortable for your activity and comfort (i.e. 8", 9", 10"...) The higher the boot cut, the greater the ankle and lower leg/calf are supported however some find high boots uncomfortable (they can dig into your calf muscles), and/or certain types of movement/terrain likewise make high boots not ideal (i.e. if you are doing a lot of side hilling).

Then, you need to consider the flex rating of the boot for the baseline terrain that you will be spending the majority of your time in.

Crispi uses a 1–5 scale to rate boot stiffness, where 1 is the most flexible and 5 is the stiffest. This system helps match boot rigidity to terrain: lower numbers are for easy terrain/hiking, while higher numbers offer support for heavy packs and steep, technical terrain. Stiffer boots provide more stability but less flexibility.
  • Flex 1 (Light & Fast): Very flexible, similar to a tennis shoe, suited for light hiking or casual use.
  • Flex 2 (Moderate Flex): Good for everyday trails, hiking, and active hunting (e.g., Lapponia, Aiva Mid).
  • Flex 3 (Supportive/Versatile): The "sweet spot" for many hunters, offering balance for elk hunting/steep terrain (e.g., Guide, Nevada).
  • Flex 4 (Very Stiff): Excellent for heavy packs, off-trail, and rugged alpine terrain (e.g., Colorado, Briksdal).
  • Flex 5 (Super Stiff): Maximum stiffness, often for mountaineering or extremely rocky terrain (e.g., Alpine Pro, MTN SF GTX).
Altitude Outdoors put together a nice graphic to help navigate the many models, relative to terrain type. Worth the read:

Do you match prices?
We match prices from active, authorized Canadian dealers, for in stock items. There are fake Crispi websites from overseas that frequently pop-up, with what appear to be very attractive prices. These sites are designed to capture your credit card data. This happens with other brands such as Sitka. However as mentioned if they are a legit Canadian dealer just DM, email at precisionoptics@telus.net, or call us at 1-250-747-1621 and we'd be happy to assist you,

I’m a fan of Crispi boots for the fall/winter months. My most recent pair I ordered from precision optics. Shipping was fast and service was great. They fit true to size which is a bonus and makes ordering online effortless. I also use Lowa’s Z8 GTX for summer and spring and the size is exact between the two brands.

Crispi Wildrock gtx for the early fall
Crispi Wildrock 800efx for the late fall/winter
Lowa Z8 GTX for the summer

Ordering from Precision Optics or purchasing Crispi boots, you won’t be disappointed.
