Optic for 7mmPRC?

I have a Ruger American Gen II in 7mmPRC headed my way.

What Rings and Optic do you recommend?

Not looking for garbage and don't want to spend $4k either.

Might want to check out the Arken scopes. I've been trying their EP5 Gen II 7-35 X 56 on a couple rifles - the glass is admittedly not as good as the high-end, multi-coated German glass, but it's still very good, the reticle stays zeroed and the price is certainly right! In terms of scope mounts and rails, I tend to like Richard Near's stuff - very solid, well-made and Canadian!! Great calibre - have fun!
 
I have a couple Leupolds, a few Zeiss, a Trijicon and a bunch of NF. The Zeiss have the best glass of all them by my eyes. You couldn’t go wrong the scope Remington Jim recommends.
 
Well I’d lean towards something with a top end around 18/20. 15/16 works as well but it’s always nice having extra at the range.

The V4s are great value for money and you can get a decent price on them at some shops these days.

If you have extra coin you could get into leupolds or a second hand optic from swaro or nightforce (if you deal hunt I have seen Z5s and NX8s for 2k ish the odd time..)

Plenty of other options from lots of companies like Vortex, Burris, etc as well.

I like Leupold because I find dealing with Korth Group an absolute pleasure whenever I have to. I’ve looked through some higher end stuff as well lol but outside the price max you set!

with the 7 PRC something with a Turret will be good for the distance it can shoot.

I say pick one and make it work! I was in the market recently this one was on the list, but some reviews of the zeiss warranty experience was kinda sketch. I just picked up a night force shv 4-14x56 for about the same price and allot less features(no exposed turrets) But I was after more of a keep it simple/durability first scope. Its going on tikka ctr .308 with an mdt chassis with cadex 30mm one peice mount. I have picked up a set of nightforce lightweight rings for the leupold vx5 2-10x44 that was on it. that will be swapped to another rifle.

for your rifle I would be tempted to try a sightron s-tac 3-16.... tempted to try one on a savage .223 that I picked up a new heavy barrel on discount from international. I am tempted to try rings from ATRS next, the mdt ones look alright on the wall at the local gun store. also got to play with This vevor digital torque wrench. this will be so handy for all sorts. rember without your scope squared up level, and a level indicator, shots at range will be unpredictable at best.

Good optic. They have been on sale for a while at different retailers not sure why I’m assuming either a new model or the reticle is discontinued as they don’t normal go on sale so much.

I’ve had them on loaner rifles for different things and they have been great. I’m even tempted to get the 3-12 for one of my hunting rifles. Only downside for me is I’m trying to go lighter rifles due to an injury that limits my carry capacity.

The discovery optics are actually very good scopes. If you buy the ED versions. I have a few of them mounted on different rifles. Have a 1-8 on a 375 Ruger, 1-6 on a 9.3x72, 3-15 on a 300WSM. No issues whatsoever. Nicer glass than my vortex PST scopes, and the tracking and repeatability on them has been perfect on mine. I have hundreds of rounds through my 375 with it mounted and it hasn't moved or shifted any. And it's rode around and bounced all over the place on my quad and in the truck, and had had a pile of branches smacking it around walking through the bush.

I was sceptical at first, but they have been great for me so far, so a outright dismissal without any first hand experience on them isn't really warranted.

Not saying vortex is a great comparison, but my gen 2 PST scopes have all had issues and been sent back for repair. Haven't needed repairs on any Leopold VX-3's. But I personally would pick a Discovery optics ED scope over the VX-3. I don't have any higher end scopes than that, but at the price point they can't be beat. People also dismiss the Arken ED optics, which I like better than my vortex and Leopold scopes as well.

If you got the money, go ahead and spend the money. If you would rather buy a pile of reloading components for shooting said rifle like I would, that's normally the route I choose. However for lightweight optics on a light rifle setups, I do like the options Leupold has.
