Mystery shotgun part

Can some shed some light on this? There are no marks other than the serial number

Belgian or Spanish commercial double breech block from the 1920s-1930s. I had one that was identical, and it had "Belknap Hardware Co" scroll engraved into the barrel rib.

They were soft and cheap, but sometimes quite pretty.

I believe the "proof marks" stamps are Belgian.

Definitely not Belgium and not Spanish. I'm 99% sure it's British. Birmingham proof house.

Pretty standard Birmingham make. The retailer, and possibly the maker, would have been inscribed on the lock plates, not the action body.
