Long barrel (6”) Beretta 948 22 LR

How common is 6” barrel Beretta 948 in 22 LR? I finally located one 948 with steel frame (as far as I know, most 948-s are with aluminium frame), but it’s prohibited so I can have it as a frame only. I even looked for 6” barrel, but no luck. Can barrel from one of those 70 to 76 models be modified to fit 948? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

The CFO will still consider it a prohib even as a frame only. They will only re-register as restricted once it's got the new barrel and verified.

Well, as far as I understood a gentleman who is a verifier, short barrel must be handled to police and gun can be re-registered as restricted, but as frame only and only then I can purchase it. It must be done by present owner, I cannot do that. Once I receive new barrel, gun should be re-registered again with info about caliber and barrel length. Again, I might be wrong, so if anybody has right info, please post. Thanks.
