Confirmed.. T3 Battue coming my way

Here's the run down.

A Tikka is costing $1800-2000+ these days new.
I came across this 20 inch barrel Tikka T3 for a Grand.
Already had a 20 inch barrel , so saved about $300 on cutting a barrel an freight etc.

I took the sites straight off as I I tend to hunt with Scope as a bush gun , esp with nice short barrel.

Alot of secondhand T3 s are up in Prices and actually fairly rare to see them come up for sale for a reasonable price.
All would of had a 22 inch barrel.
Fair enough! hope you get it shooting well. Maybe check your scope and mounts, tikkas are usually pretty bomb proof.

People think tikkas are the best thing on heart. They have such a strong following and I think people have to justify them self, I never shot one that really impressed me, yes they shoot well but no better than my 40 years old husqvarna 1640 or all the 1640’s I’ve shot over the years. When they were around $900 they were definitely a good deal, and a battue at $1k is definitely a good deal these days so good on you wheland, and it will shoot or at least it will shoot good enough for hunting to 300m that’s for sure!

What I have seen more often on tikkas that didnt shoot, was torque specs were off. Tikkas have pretty darn high for action screws. So maybe look into that, lots of info on the web.

Hey mate I have started thinking an looking at suspect issues.

Torque could be!!
An perhaps the recoil lug- but that's just guessing. The action doesn't just slip in the stock- an In wondering if it needs either some relieving or just attention there.

Loaded some rounds after needing to FLS from the model Seven chamber 😎. An online looks like 44-45 gr is a spot.
An I've also downloaded at 42gr to see if that improves.

Might just be the Speer 165 hot cor yet... But have a few different projectiles to try !

I agree man, I just like their simplicity an feel I guess. I had a original T3 308 stainless I should never sold.
Always wanted a Tikka again, love the hunter stainless but very $$.
Alot of these Tikkas are kept not sold, I been looking for a while.

The Franchi is shooting the lights out an feels fairly "similar" per say....

Yep fiddling with some rounds today.

Try a 180sst- maybe a 150 hot cor an some loads with 165 hot cor

Hey , Long story short for now.(Will edit a video).

It's a shooter. I got there eventually.

Found the 2 nodes today per say... After effing around at 43-44-44.5 yesterday with no luck.
Today a few 180s in the Mix.. but final two groups were the money , ballpark, to concentrate on.

My Q is.
Do I need it full power 45gr... Or happy at 42gr 🤷🤦‍♂️

ELDX is 1 inch for reference. light load for all 180gr.... doesnt love it. explain in video more regarding using other bullets for test mostly...never know.

the bottom Hot core loads ended up looking real good- will zero in from here.

What's the point of having iron sights on it if you mount a scope lol
I think 99% of modern hunting rifles with iron sights have scopes on them! Most of my hunting rifles have iron sights and they also have scopes!! Aging eyes, reaching out on games, having more precision in your shots… those are all good reasons to have optics mounted on you iron sights rifles, leaving the iron sights on so you have back up if the optic fails or like me when in camp and you wanna keep the rifle for protection short range quick acting, the scopes come off at night!!
