350gr mag tips

The Speer 350 grain is the bullet that Buffalo Bore ammunition loads for a jacketed penetrator round in the 45-70 if one isn’t using their 430 grain hard cast penetrator. This Speer 350 isn’t meant to expand widely at 45-70 velocities - if you want that get some 405 grain Remingtons.

Edited for spelling.
Where can one find the 405gr rem fnsp now days?

There is nothing special about the 405 Rem's other than someone waxing nostalgic about something they have used successfully in the past... there are many as good and better options that are readily available.

My double rifle was regulated with them and they work great in the 4570. Soft enough for good expansion heavy enough for penetration in bear and deer plus they didnt cost $2 each

Mess around with loads using 400 grain bullets, you will strike on something that regulates well... and the messing around is half the fun.

I found Oregon trail silver hardcast flat nose 405gr fn work great. Haven't used them on game other than a grouse.
Im stuck with 28000cup limit
It does not like 300gr hp. 1 barrel shoots great the other not as good. Good enough for sure as its a close range toy.
Once it gets warmer im going to spend a few weekends playing with it again
I still prefer jacketed over hardcast for now

Im going to really play with the 350gr mag tips in my 458wm as well
