I wonder if there are any semi-auto only Chinese Type 85 or type 79 SMGs

I wonder if there were any semi-auto type 79 or type 85 SMGs that have been made for the civilian market.

Those would be interesting.
 
They are open bolt I believe, so wouldn't be a factory conversion.

Type 79's system is Gas-operated, rotating bolt action with short-stoke piston, fired from close bolt, while the Type 85 is just simple blowback fired from open bolt......

If I have to choose between those two I'd pick Type 79, as it is a more interesting design.....

Sorry, I had the HMG T85 in mind. I have never seen a civie version of the SMG even advertised, let alone in Canada.

It would be pretty easy thing to make the T79 as a SA. But I don't believe they are still made. And with all the changes in Chinas small arms industry, getting it started again, especially for a small order would be next to impossible.

THe other issue is I can see the FRT boys saying it is a "variant" of the AK. (cough)

The type 85 is also somewhat interesting as well..

I've nicknamed it the "Chinese MP40", both due to its appearance and operation (open bolt, recoil operated).
