Just sorted some brass I bought from a fellow nut. Small flat rate box full of 308 brass. Close to 400 pcs. Nice bonus 21 pcs Hornady match deprimed and ready to load. Nice pretty even mix of Hornady, Winchester, PMC, PPU, RP, LC, IVI, Federal. Pleasant surprise not what I expected. Of those which would you put in the top 3 for best brass to reload?

3 head stamps that don't show up on Google. Just those 3 in the batch

Read some more about ppu brass. Sounds good. I think it's commercial? The LC and IVI have less space inside thicker walls and base.

Hirtenberger kinda sounds german. Hirten mountains. Patronen is round in swedish if I remember right. Interesting

Hirtenberger is the Austrian national ammo maker. If the primer is crimped, consider it Berdan primed, ie two little flash holes, and unreloadable without significant effort. Stick to the ones that aren't crimped.

Yeah I find win brass a bit harder like lapua and have never had a split neck. Also tend to trim a bit less with the 22-250.
Actually the only splits I've had with any brand was with hornady and that was just 2
22-250 or 243 I can't remember
 
I like federal, I shoot lots of federal. I had good luck with Remington and PPU and also S&B. I didn’t like Hornady, and I don’t have enough of the nosler Barnes, Norma etc to really use consistently.

I automatically sort out anything with a crimped primer as Berdan. Cheaper to scrap a handful of found cases than break a decapping pin. Besides, cutting the crimps off is just one more step when Boxer cases are so plentiful.

I have about 200 Hirtenberger cases all boxer primed. Removing the crimps is easy.

as for brass preferences, Winchester in the blue bags is what I try to buy. PPU makes good brass. IVI is good but thicker.
 
Win, PPC, IVI. Not "match" brass but good quality. The IVI might be lower powder capacity, a warm load in Winchester brass could be a hot load in IVI.
