I always thought these two were nice. Remington 20ga LW and 572 Fieldmaster BDL which I swapped to match. The grain is not terribly fancy but I like the shape. I do a lot of Cowboy shooting so enjoy how quickly a straight grip comes to the shoulder.

I love the look of the wooden butts but I have found that they tend to slip on my shoulder especially when shooting at higher targets. If the wooden butt is removable then I tend to replace them with a rubber butt plate covered with pigskin to solve the problem. I acquired a Rizzini 410 last year and have found that it too slips on my shoulder so it’s next on the list for leather when I get time.

Ithaca used some awfully nice wood on their graded guns at one time.

Nice wood spank that goes back to the days when there were walnut trees to be had not much or many left nowdays. I have several Ryan stocks carved from local wood that I cherish even more now that Frank has passed

Yeah. Fine walnut is much harder to get now. I've owned a few old Winchester lever rifles that had beautiful wood and they were just straight production rifles not special order.

This is the butt end of a 1905 Parker Bros BHE trap gun. Typically, this grade of gun would have skeleton style butt plate but Parker would build to the customer's wishes. It's beautifully done.

That's a gorgeous gun. Does the gun have a vent rib, or solid rib or plain barrel? What choke is it. A Trap grade M42 is indeed a rare gun. I've seen a few Skeet grade M42's but never a Trap grade.
Do you mind telling us how you managed to find such a rare gun? Must be a great story.

I have owned a few British made shotguns that were shortened in length of pull perhaps for a younger shooter then lengthened later in life. I guess this negatively affects their value but if well done doesn't bother me much. Here is a J. Graham and Co. Inverness, Scotland 16 gauge made in the 1890's that has been lengthened professionally. The man who did the job did an admirable job even matching the grain in the two pieces of walnut well. Checkered butt as well. Its a lovely gun built on a small gauge frame, 30 inch fine damascus barrels, 6 lbs 2 oz in weight.

Just a few…mostly 28 gauges and rimfire rifles. Sometimes you fall in love with the wood and just have to buy the toy. Same infatuation with big boobs…and before you know it another relationship!!!! Cheers
