Athlon Rangecraft Chronograph

As someone who doesn't reload, I'm trying to think of a reason I'd even need a chrono... Any suggestions?
Reloader or not, it's just nice to know how your particular rifles are shooting factory ammo!....:)

You can compare the printed fps speeds versus the speed stated on the ammo box.

It gives you an idea on how fast your rounds are travelling out of all your rifles, shotguns, archery equipment, pellet guns, airsoft, etc.

If you are not reloading, it does become a novelty, however it also gives the kinetic energy of your ammo, the average fps speed, the maximum speed, minimum speed, the extreme spread, and the standard deviation.....:)

For the $620.00 it almost affordable to anyone who is interested in the aforementioned items I listed above.

Hopefully this answers your question......:)

Knowing the exact avg speed of your round to accurately use a ballistics app to figure out holds or dials for different yardages.

If all your shooting is 200 and in yea doesnt make much sense. Zero it 1.5" high at 100yards and just hold dead on from 50-200.

But still nice to know your holds.

Lots of scope companies now have their own apps where you can select the reticle you have and the ballistic data of what you are shooting and it will show you what each line in your BDC reticle actually is.

Because most factory produced ammo in many cartridges is way out of Advertised FPS range 🤷‍♂️🤪
But will Bambi live to tell the difference? Haha jk I get what you're saying, yes I've heard most listed FPS is under some sort of specific lab test settings. It's like when the manufacturer tells you "battery life up to 12 hours" and it lasts 5. Part of me wants a chrono, but the other part can't justify the cost because it doesn't really benefit my personal use case in a meaningful way.

Your Right Don’t BUY one as you have no Use for one 👍

It's a tool, it helps give a person some confidence in what they are doing, or illustrates something that needs work. It's also incredibly convenient compared to my Magnetospeed or especially my Oehler 35P. Just toss it in the range bag and go, takes all of a minute to set up, does what I need it to do. It is a bit pricy, but, like lots of other cringe spending, the pain disappears once you have it and have used it, and a year or two down the road, is forgotten about altogether.
