A member brought out a new 825 to skeet yesterday. Comparing it to the 725, the differences are very small, the receiver being very slightly slimmer, and the gun feels just a bit quicker to swing. The fit and finish seem unchanged, but the price surprised me, at $5400 with adjustable comb. He sold his two year old Citori CX for $500 more than he paid for it though, because prices have gone up so much. If I had a 725, I wouldn't even consider going to an 825, but coming from a CX, the difference in weight and balance is significant.

Mentioned it before but 3 guys I shoot regularly with have new 825's and swear by them. I have a 725 and cannot really see much difference but beauty and functionality are in the eye of the holder. My 725 does not have a comb adjustment but it works just fine for me .

I'm looking forward to handling them too.

Can't comment on the sporting versions, but there looks like a more significant difference with the smaller gauged field versions - on paper anyway. Browning has finally released smaller gauges. Based on the 20g, looks like they are better scaled (saving almost a half pound) and stock dimensions are now classic Citori (a little more drop). Assuming the website is accurate, those changes should be noticeable and might appeal to someone who was never dialled into the fit of the 725.

Seems a good deal of used guns around. Lots of guys just like to buy and sell.

Any issues for the CX for a casual club shooter?
The CX is one of the most popular choices at both clubs that I am a member of. They are close to the older 525/625 in weight, balance, and fit, and they have a slightly higher rib, which I prefer. They have proven to be just as reliable as the older models as well. The 725/825 have lighter barrels, and swing faster, and they have less drop at comb, so they fit differently. The 825 does not have ported barrels, which I never like anyways.

Good to hear, thank you.

I bought a used CX on GP over the weekend with adjustable comb. It's in the mail. I was also looking at the used Rizzini the Gun Dealer but the Browning checked off more boxes including better resale.

They updated the trigger in the 825. Unlike the 725, they don't need a trigger modification if you want to put subgauge tubes in them and shoot 410 or 28ga. That's the best update that I can tell. The rest is just small cosmetic changes from the 725 with pros (no ports) and cons (matte not blued barrels) to me.

Luckily, I never had to do any trigger modifications to my 725 Pro to use all the sub gauge tubes. The 825 looks great and I'm sure it is, but for now I will continue on with what i have. At least for this week.....

One of our guys got the new 825 Pro Sporter several months ago. Traded his CX in on it. His father shoots the 725 pro in 20 ga.
No big difference in the looks of them..not to me anyways.
Was never really a 725 fan, nor the new 825. Not a fan of the way the fore end is cut back...or the DS choke systems.

Much prefer the older Citori's.
I started with the 325 as my first Browning and then went to the 425 a few yrs later. Fast forward 10 yrs, I have my 625 grade IV , had it for 8 or 9 yrs now.
I do love that gun ..lol and another I consider a holy grail of the Citori clan...a beautiful 525 in 28 ga !! Nice wood and lots of scroll. !

I had a 28 gauge 525 as well, but I liked my 625 Feather in 28 gauge even more. The 525 and 625 both fit me much better than the 725 and 825. The 725/825, have less drop at comb.
