Modifications to PAL gun to be non-pal

I recently purchased a pistol that is sold in Canada so it is obviously under 500 fps. However, I found messing around with it, that there is a very simple way to change this velocity in a drastic way. What are the requirements for this? How hard does it need to be (this is simply screwing a screw in a bit). I currently have it set for under 500fps and am trying to figure out how to keep it like that and be legal as well.

With the current gov't, I have a stinking suspicion that simply modifying it to a lower speed probably won't cut it, as it was sold as whatever model it is, and likely has an FRT for that model. It's possible that if you give it to someone without a PAL, they could get into trouble over it, under the wrong set of circumstances.

To be clear, this model is widely sold here as a under 500 fps air pistol. I currently have it set for under 500 fps. However (if you watch some videos on this model) you can adjust a screw and it will shoot far over the 500 fps mark. I plan to lock the screw down with another set screw, just hoping this is sufficient. It would be a Restricted pistol with the screw up. I do have a RPAL, but I have no desire for a restricted air pistol. Maybe I am overthinking this, I guess it is similar to a rivet in a magazine, you can easily remove it as well.

I thought over 500fps just need pal? Now you need rpal? If that's some new thing that's hilarious .

If it requires tools to modify it, is probably what the courts would look at.
Flintlock rifles which are no PAL required can be turned into prohibited pistols with a hacksaw in 5 minutes.

Overthinking by a mile.

Ya it sucks when I’m shooting my air pistol and the cops show up with a chrony to check my sold as under 500fps pellet gun. Happens all the time.
It's probably a non issue... that is, unless the OP does something stupid.

- In which case, the air pistol will turn itself into a non-registered restricted firearms (which I believe are now prohibited)...
- The horse people will then want to reclassify that air pistol as a prohibited item, and everyone that bought one will either have to turn them in or be considered a criminal...

I thought about this some more, and you can easily add a spring to a spring powered rifle and be over the 500 fps mark, so I suppose it is the same thing. Only reason I am concerned, is I want to use it for grouse hunting in the fall, so potentially I could run into a CO. If that occurs I want to make sure I am legal in any way possible.

And I have used a under 500 air gun for grouse hunting before, it kills them just fine.

Also CO isn't going to be carrying a pocket chronograph and only way they will know of any mods, if you tell them.

If you mod, best to keep you mouth shut, as the community is worse than the cops for being rats.
