Where to hunt Gophers in AB?

Weather is currently holding back the trip but hopefully, we can reschedule in May. Am interested in another location if possible.

We headed to Saskatchewan the last week of may and the timing was perfect. The crops were just starting to poke up and when we flew back 2 1/2 weeks later it was starting to get high enough that it was peekaboo with the little dirt devils.

Did you come to the Regina area last year?

We flew into Regina and went south and stayed close to Montana border. Beautiful country and the people I met were awesome!! I’m seriously considering buying a place out there. Won’t be there during the winter though!!
Spent my first winter in that area. About 3 hrs south west of regina. Milder than southern BC and much less snow. Some windy days for sure. Blew whatever snow fell over to Manitoba lol.

Never had the opportunity to shoot an Alberta Badger as of yet, but the farmers certainly encourage it.
Some do some don't. They can make a helluva mess turning pasture land into cement but kill a lot more "gophers" in a season than guys whacking them with rifles, and I say that with my brother and I shooting 500 a day for 4-5 days every spring. Good "tune up" exercize every time you pull a trigger no matter what chambering.

SW Alberta. Trust me, once you have them they are the hardest gopher to get rid of. Much harder than Richardsons or Colombians…

Been shooting gophers in SW Alberta for about 45 years now…
…Hmmm…any chance I could buy several dozen breeding pairs and ‘introduce’ them to my area of S/W Ontario. Feed them Viagara and fertility drugs to get them started, must be federal grants available??
My bad????

Only 41 more ‘sleeps’ and Longstud, 22LR Guy and myself will be landing in Regina!!
First stop will be Prairie Gun Traders to pick up a few more cases of ammo and other stuff. Air Canada has silly rules like you can’t bring 500lbs of ammo each. lol
Grab some groceries and beverages and reconnect with some great rancher friends. Many gophers will die, many black angus steaks will die too !! lol

Ok, because last year 2 guys came out from Ontario and shot on some land where I shoot. Was just wondering if it was you. cheers

We paid for them with all the money we get from Alberta. Ontarians receive monthly cheques from the extra they steal from Alberta! I got three last year but can shoot four this year cuz we received a top up after Carney took over.
$$ probably don't go that far considering the cost of the 416 Rigby ammo you're using. No such thing as too much gun when talkng those DG maneater rodents. Safety first.

How many of your group wear white framed sunglasses? Shoot while drinking Starbucks lattes?
