So I was in a gun shop the other day and they had a Straight-pull Ross rifle in .303 Brit for $100. The original wood had been butchered but it looked like it had a new barrel on it. What do you guys think? Worth $100? What should I look for in terms of wear on a ross? The locking lugs seemed ok... didn't really know what else to look for (I was also in a hurry to get to the range with time to shoot before dusk).

All I know for sure is that I couldn't stop smelling my hands after leaving the shop. My sweet Jebus do I ever love the smell of burnt powder and gun oil from a milsurp :D

$100 is about what cut Rosses often sell for. How long was the barrel? If the barrel isn't cut but looks like new, it would be a great buy.

W- I have a motorcycle here I'd like to sell... How much is it worth?
C'mon- what's the sense of wasting everybody's time without at least a bit of information? At a minimum, Which model is it/was it when it started out? Sights?
Even if you don't carry your digital camera with you, any dealer would surely loan you a tape measure to jot a few details on the back of his business card...

I know NOTHING about the rifles... I was just looking for a ballpark.

Two lugs or interrupted threads? Where is the sight? Barrel length? What does it say on the receiver ring or left side of receiver?

If it looks in good shape, you can't lose. If it is a full length MK III 30.5" barrel with 1910 stamped on the top you will have people wanting to buy it. If it is a Mk II (1905) you will still have people wanting to buy it. If the barrel has been cut and the wood is unrestorable, it isn't worth much more, but you can still probably make a few bucks on it. Put down a deposit, take pictures and post them here, and the most you stand to lose is your deposit.
