I think you mean no dogs tight chokes ? I have one for you cat I had a big female yellow that was so eager that she caught a lot of bunnies and birds before I could get a shot offi think she was choked full of piss and vinegar! Dogs make a hunt cat and I have been lucky to have several. The new Fair sxs is working well for me cat you were right great gun. With no dogs I guess open chokes would maybe be better, and occasionally those Prairie Sharptails get up at 40 yards or better, but for the most part we run pretty much wide open

Yeah I dunno how I printed that, I'll fix it! LOLI think you mean no dogs tight chokes ? I have shot on an ATA layout with open chokes and it's lots of fun but holy smokes you need to be on the bird fast! LOL Lottsa fun though , particularly with CYL/CYL BP guns. The SxS pictured is .0004 and .0005 constrictions which is pretty much skeet & skeet. No problem killing birds to 30 yards running 1oz 1200 fps bismuth loads. Of course perfect for the skeet field and would work well for backyard style trap. For the trap range it would be a stretch although that said I do use my skeet choke for the first shot in doubles trap when I shoot my over/under.
As previously stated, a skeet choke is designed for the best pattern at 21 yards.I just wanted the gun because it is a 1958 browning superposed in very good + condition. I love old brownings however I was unsure of the skeet chokes since all I shoot is backyard trap and pheasants. I love my full and modified choked guns and was just wondeing how different the skeet chokes would be. Do you guys think its good for backyard hand or machine thrown trap?
.004/.005 better?Hey Spank, I think you put some extra zeros in your constriction measures!! Beauty greenheads. Great pic
I used an 1100 skeet gun for many years on everything, yes because that's all I had, but I shot tons of pheasants, rabbits, ducks, geese and my 1st deer using a slug with it.I am thinking about buying a O/U with fixed skeet chokes. How do you guys like your skeet chokes, I have never used one. Can I still hunt pheasants with it. What range is a skeet choke good for when shooting trap and skeet. I usually use red dot 1-1/8 oz loads with 7.5 or 8 shot. Let me know what you think about the skeet choke!
