I noticed a Buck Mark Sporter in the last Switzer auction sold for $2400 plus $360 buyer's premium plus applicable tax and shipping. 😲
Is that one of those crazy one off auction results? A typo? Or am I completely out of touch about market values? I know they have been out of production since 2021 but.......jeeez!

Since they have been discontinued, the prices has went insane. Beautiful gun and I wish I bought one but to me, it's worth 900-1300 depending on the model.
 
I have an "Early Armalite AR-7" (ca 1962-3) and a couple years old Henry AR-7 and both are very reliable with HV ammo. Cleaning is a breeze since the 'action' has very little chance to 'get dirty' unless shooting a few hundred rounds. It's a 'survival rifle' so unless a scope is mounted accuracy is 'head of squirrel' at 25 yds or less with the peep sight. Worth the $450-ish they go for, and lighter.

I have actually seen multiple recently sell for 1800 and higher which I agree is absolutely crazy.
But I will say they are beautiful guns, made in Japan and we're very reliable in my experience.
 
I think I paid around $750 for mine at Crappy Tire. It was a complete impulse purchase.....I spotted while walking through the store and thought "Neat looking little gun". I put a red dot on it and use it for club Steel Challenge matches. Very quick /pointable for that purpose and dead reliable. Mine's seems happy with Federal Champion with virtually zero failure to load or eject.....just the usual rimfire ammo issue with an occasional dud

I had thought a few times about picking up a bull barrel target model but if that's what they are selling for I think I'm good. 😁

I can only speak to my experience but reliability certainly hasn't been an issue for me. If anything my little Buck Mark has been generally more reliable than many of the guns I'm shooting against (10-22's, Derya's, GSG's etc.)
 
Have a Weaver Classic 3-9 on mine. Take it out to the gopher patch occasionally. Really need to wear glasses. Don't notice the spitback from the Buckmark pistol, just out there far enough. Prob paid around the $750 point many years ago.

Just don’t try to use it in the winter.

They are absolute jam monsters once it gets cold and the slide shrinks / tolerance tighten.

I had one for grouse hunting (with the bull barrel and a red dot ) and absolutely loved the ergonomics and accuracy but late fall when I do most of my hunting I was missing more birds and rabbits than I was eating because it was jamming all the time. FTF. FTE. Etc.

Well, that's not my experience. We sometimes shoot steel matches on nice days in the winter (sunny and minus single digits) never noticed any issues. Maybe I got a good one or you got a bad one🤷‍♂️ .......... Always hard to draw conclusions with a sample size of one.
