BIG ONE !!!

I finaly got me a big one!! Mauser 98 custom build in .450 Marlin ! Have no idea who did the work, was told a machinist down around Vancouver did it. Took it to my shooting spot to giver a test run and she feeds, fires and ejects properly. Came with Hornady dies, and a bunch of ammo.
Now to find a suitable bear for the freezer!!!

I like the Beretta gel check pad to minimize recoil on my face when shooting ā€œbiggerā€ stuff. Seriously, hope you enjoy it!
 
Looking at the stock I was expecting bigger, but 450Marlin is still cool!

I hear you can get pretty spicy with reloads in a bolt action too...
 
You can load that from powder puff to hammer of thor.
Get your retina's checked before trying the hammer of thor.
Listen to greenice above for the kickers.
I tried to wipe the shoulder off my body with a 45/70.

Oh, it was bedded alright, just not the way I would have done it.
Pretty sure it was a combination of a poor bedding job and the stock was probably made up in the early 1960's so it was dried out and brittle and probably a poor choice of grain for the level of recoil the .450 churns out.
