Brigade Makasi MK15 We're back in business!!

Just got off the phone with Brigade. Lovely people. They said that the handguard is proprietary, and that there aren’t any other AR handguards that will work with the rifle, just because of the anti rotation tab systems for the handguard. He did also mention that if there are ever any issues with our handguards or there’s a need for spares, that Brigade will be able to replace them.

So now we know for sure, the handguard is proprietary and no other AR handguards will fit the Makasi.
I asked them if the 18.6" version would have a mid-length gas system, awaiting a reply.

The handguard is not a big deal but that metal skeleton stock from the 70’s fnc fal para era needs to go, it is not even a faithful copy of the fn para stock. Like can they ship it without the stock or something else? Let’s forget this whole FAL marketing thing this is not even remotely close to a FAL under the hood, so let’s make things more functional and practical.

Guess I'm the exception - I like the cold-war era Galil / FAL Para stock; I'd just lke a more retro handguard to go with it.

Was there comment on making longer handguards available?

You're absolutely right, my bad. I guess a mid-length system would still be lower pressure/smoother cycling with a longer barrel, regardless of DI or piston, but since that would imply lengthening the op-rod it's unlikely to happen here.
A good question. I hope the gas piston block is mid.

Im not sure about the armlite 180b, but its clones are carbine. The cc di 18.6" are carbine just because midlength isn't a mil spec. Although it is known be be harder on the gun. Action cycling while the chamber pressure is high.

I actually find the all-metal folding "Para" Stock to be an attractive aspect of the rifle overall, with welcome functionality for compact storage and carry. It doesn't need to be a faithful copy of the 1970s FN FAL Para Stock, just so long as it has a reasonable Length of Pull and locks up solid with no unwelcome wobble or slop.

Again, I quite like the aesthetic nods to the FN FAL in terms of the Receiver latching system, the Left-side Charging Handle, the side-folding Buttstock, and so forth. Each to his or her own, but I don't necessarily need things optimally functional nor practical so long as they function as intended and appeal to my eye....

I agree. Only issue I have with the para folding stock is its weight, measured at 1.4lbs. Even a Haga B&T stock is lighter, with some other polymer stocks allowing the gun to stay below the 7lbs mark -- which is a feat in itself for a piston gun.
