Is Henry Homesteader 9mm semi auto rile likely to be banned? As a newbie, I am trying to assess whether to buy it or not at this time in 2026. And if so many other rifles got banned, if this was to be banned, wouldn't it already be banned? How does this work? Its not cheap to buy such guns , a quick internet search says it is in range of $1300 now. I would like to have a Semi Auto rifle in a pistol caliber. Any other suggestion? Thanks in Advance

Buy it and enjoy it. Never going to get banned. I’m not a legal professional.

Nobody can answer your first question. Liberals and Anti's want to ban them all eventually.
I fail to understand Government's logic though. So if Henry Homesteader functions like all other SemiAutos than why this hasn't already be banned? Even if a single semi auto remains out there, their objective is not achieved. Right? How one rifle gets banned and other doing same thing not so. That leaves new legal gun owners like me confused as to what to buy and what not.

There isn't any logic. Never has been

Haha just buy it. I’m trying hard to wait for a pump action

That is the logic

There is a cycle to these things, and to history in general. We happen to be in a poop cycle at the moment. Get in, get active and you may live long enough to see freedom again

The logic, for what it is worth, seems to be based on looks and political pressure. They have banned .22s that have an AR look to them, but you can still get a 10/22 or any other of a ton of .22 semis. They haven't banned the SKS, because of political pressure from First Nations, but they also banned powerful single shot shotguns that few own and that likely have rarely been used in a crime (if ever) and you would be hard pressed to even find ammo for. The homesteader and a bunch of others with a traditional stock are legal for now... likely because they do not look like ARs.

The future could be anything... more buyback, more banning, no more banning, grandfathering, life-long safe Queen's, total reversal by conservatives.

While it is likely they will try and ban all semis at some point in the future, even then this may be your last chance to own one and able to legally take it into the forest and plink pop cans!
